Open Window is a collaborative initiative helping advance indie artists through an open framework. Open Window is a combination of open source music, brand development, and design. The aim of Open Window is to provide a new avenue for the development of participating Studio 2.0 artists. We aim to build a community of musical creators, visual artists, and new music business innovators contributing to the musical works and brand development of each artist. Through Indabamusic.com, Kompoz.com, Aviary.com, or by booking free time at Euphonic Sound Recording Studio, fans can contribute musical parts, remix and collaborate on their favorite songs. And by joining an artist’s OAD group (open artist development), you get access to the artist’s internal documents, business plans, artwork, web content, video, and future plans – you participate in the artists decisions. You become part of the artist’s team. We are creating a community of collaborators around the musical development of both bands and fans. More people remixing, or adding creative and original musical elements to a song, means more musical possibilities are being explored. And the more new music business thinkers we can get reviewing the various direct-to-fan business models, business plans, artwork and promotional strategies, the greater the possibilities for success. Open Window is an interdisciplinary and open source approach to indie music and artist brand development.
