LAST CHANCE TO SAY GOODBYE song lyrics
by Joel Sattler
standing at the door
thinking it's time to fly
couldn't resist one more
last chance to say goodbye
I called this piano mine
I played it a thousand times
leaving it all behind
last chance to say goodbye
Sophie comes in, she brought her flute
wandering in Jack gives a toot
Jimmy the beat four to the bar
Jerry chimes in on lead guitar
singing with all my friends
no need to ask them why
all things must come to end
last chance to say goodbye
will we ever meet again
will we ever get this high
no use in asking when
last chance to say goodbye
every note perfect perfect perfect
just as if we all thought the same
no need to ask what changes come next
all of us feel the same.....

Joel, this is really amazing. The lyrics capture the essence of the description I wrote for this project in such a beautiful way. Don't misread what I'm about to write next, because it is meant to be nothing less than the highest of compliments... I have to compliment you on how simple the lyrics look, but yet capture, so well, the feelings and the emotion that I imagine a bunch of good high school friends would feel as they got together for possibly the last time before they started off on their own sperate ways. I've read many times before, and undesrtand from my own professional experience, that "simple" is really difficult to achieve, and is a lot of hard work. You, my friend, have achieved "simple" right here, in a way that is hard for me to describe.
This project is special to me. I created this music one night last June after the School year ended, as I was thinking about my 18 year old daughter's upcoming September move to another city where she is planning to attend University over the next 4 years. I was trying to figure out how she was possibly feeling about her eventual move, leaving her friends behind, living on her own for the first time. The feelings I had imagined are beautifully captured in your lyrics.
I'm so grateful for your contribution.
I have an idea how this can work vocally. It will require some work, but I'm looking forward to working your lyrics into a vocal melody.

I am delighted that you like it.
"Simple" is harder than it looks.......
