All Vocal seps have just a little EQ and Compression, but no Reverb/Delay or anything else. I'll let you add that as you see fit.

Thanks Pete, I'll have a great time mixing all the vocals in. That'll finish the track off!

I was trying to put together and adapt something with vocals, but I'm finding it very difficult. These vocals don't seem to line up any way I do them. Why did you choose not to use the project sync?

Captainzero   Captainzero on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 12:51 AM UTC

cause I changed the arrangement so i didn't see the point? I can re-up with original sync tone if you like.. doesn't bother me. and hey.. if you're looking for something to do, I have a million tunes that need sax/brass ;)

I was just trying to see how the vocals fit... and got lost trying. Seems the chord progression doesn't quite match up, and I have no idea what happened. I guess I missed something somewhere.

It's still too hot to track anything right now, but hope when the weather cools back down I'll have time and patience to spend time in the studio.

well mate my projects always have an open door to you, consider yourself on permanent invite.. bring on the cool weather huh.

and yeah there are a few little timing issues in this arrangement, When I re-organised for vocals, I may well have made a few blunders lining things up. I was very new to all this when I did it. I was kinda hoping that Brian would be willing to post up all the seps and let me see if i can make it a bit neater than the state I left it in. great soloing in this btw.. such a nice tone you have.

My original intent was to do BG vocals using jazz fusion harmonies, using parts of your harmonies. I spent so much time in the sweatbox just trying to figure out how to line it up, I got frustrated and shut it all off and went in the house. Typically, when there is more than one arrangement, it's probably best to start a new project to prevent the uneducated folks like me from pulling my hair out.

Captainzero   Captainzero on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 01:33 AM UTC

sorry about that Marty, it would have been cool to hear those harmonies.. want me to put together some seps all synced-up for you?

MDK   MDK on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 01:44 AM UTC

It wouldn't hurt. It may be another week before I boot computer in the oven again.

BrianE   BrianE on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:16 PM UTC

Hi Pete/Marty, I would be willing to up load any seps that you need. I thought they were all up there anyway. Just holler and I'll be happy to put up whatever you need!

MDK   MDK on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:24 PM UTC

It just seemed that the vocals didn't fit the original arrangement. Posting new seps for a different arrangement might confuse me even worse. I'm thinking a new project for the new vocal arrangement might be more practical.

Captainzero   Captainzero on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:25 PM UTC

well i guess the drums and anything else you did that isn't on a sep. i'll just wait and see what marty comes up with first though so no rush there.

by the way, i haven't forgotten about your reggae tune either.. i have something in my head for it, just need to get it down. I usually like to get something recorded really rough, then listen to it over and over and practise it till it's firmly lodged in my brain.. then I can sing it more confidently, (and i find confidence is half the battle when it comes to singing). anyway, i'm on the case, wont be too much longer.

Captainzero   Captainzero on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:26 PM UTC

there is one Marty (clicky)

and yeah things got a bit confused lol

Captainzero   Captainzero on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:28 PM UTC

those vocals on that other project are old though :P .. the new ones are in here

MDK   MDK on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:31 PM UTC

Now it all makes sense. There already IS a separate project. You'll have to excuse me for being months behind on everything.

Seps for THAT project would be helpful... drums (a composite drum track is OK), bass, and is there a synth part?

MDK   MDK on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:35 PM UTC

@CaptZ - I just noticed you are not using the project sync for the OTHER project either... that may or may not be a problem.

Captainzero   Captainzero on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:45 PM UTC

I only ever worked from the one backing track.. the one i uploaded earlier today with a sync tone to match my vocal tracks.

BrianE   BrianE on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:56 PM UTC

Yes the 'other' project: http://kompoz.com/p/32280
This was originally intended to be the 'vocal' arrangement but I have merged them both into one project (this one) and put the two arrangements in here. This is mainly because all the seps are up here and not in the other one and so a bit easier - or so I thought!
If it's any easier and you want to work some more on this we could use the other project and up load the seps there?

Marty: To achieve the vocal mix I have had to do a good bit of cutting and pasting and so the only seps which would link in to the vocal arrangement are Peters.

MDK   MDK on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 03:57 PM UTC

I see... you've added your own synctone to an existing mix. Which project did that mix come from? This is where the confusion starts for me.... using a synctone that's different from every track in both projects.

BrianE   BrianE on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 04:04 PM UTC

Thanks for the Reggae note Pete, likewise I haven't forgotten about your tune I am putting drums on. I still am waiting for the repair of my tom mics. Think I'll have to call in and see about them.

BrianE   BrianE on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 04:48 PM UTC

Peter must have added the synctone to the existing mix. I have never put up anything with a synctone as I always just use a click. Do you want to start again with a blank canvas, if you have time?

MDK   MDK on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 04:55 PM UTC

No, we just need to beat Peter about the head for not using the click like everyone else.

BrianE   BrianE on Thu, Jul 12, 2012 @ 05:00 PM UTC

lol
