It's been a while, and a recent "feature requested" forum post prompted me to think it time to re-pimp a few groups here:

New proj open for mixes, etc.
Thu, Mar 7, 2013 • 01:06 AM UTC - By rollingthunder

I started a proj recently called "Slow Burn" which has contributions from Figsounds so far, with fretless bass and more coming.

I'd like to open this up to anyone who wants to have fun and mix, contribute, etc.

So feel free to jump in and have some fun: I'll list all the mixes in the proj description.

So my wife kindly bought me a Line6 POD HD Pro for Christmas. As it turned out, there was a defect with the unit....

The following is the exact exchange shared between myself and the line6 customer service person.

Tendonitis, or I'm taking a little break from guitar playing for a bit
Mon, Jun 4, 2012 • 12:55 PM UTC - By rollingthunder

(a far less exciting blog than some other posters recent ones, sorry... ;)

So I realized the AM that I've developed a slight amount of tendonitis in my fret-hand wrist and forearm.

Not enough that there's pain, but enough that I need to take a break and let it clear up.

So if I've said I would play on a project of yours, it's not that I don't want to, but rather that it's gonna be delayed for a while, and I apologize for the delay.

Well, it's been a year.

As opposed to the other first anniversary blogs that have been posted over time, some full of mirth, others thanks, and the special ones full of pith and vigor, I'll keep this simple....

(read on if interested...otherwise, you've got the idea. :)

  Pimping the Mixing Group
Fri, Dec 9, 2011 • 06:28 PM UTC - By rollingthunder

My last blog was a question about whether of not a group dedicated to mixing was of value.

After a good discussion, I went ahead and created it:

The Mixing Group

I figured I'd follow up with a quite note in case folks hadn't noticed.

  Mixing Group?
Mon, Oct 17, 2011 • 08:42 PM UTC - By rollingthunder

I'm not sure where to ask this, so I figured I'd blog up and see what folks thought.

I'm thinking we need a group devoted to mixing on it's own.

We have a Recording and Engineering group, a Mastering group, and groups dedicated to various DAWs, but no group that's focused on the mixing itself.

Time to say "Thanks" (and a pep talk)

I suppose each member here at some point comes to wanting to say this, and so it's my turn.

Thank you very much, folks, for the contributions to my songs you've made - both in regards to the performances, and also the constructive criticism: both have been very welcome indeed.

Thank you for putting fine pieces up for me to contribute to - regardless of whether those contributions made the final cut or not.

There are a lot of very fine players and writers here, and it's been great to have people take time out of their lives to help bring a concept to life.

One of the things I like about this so much is that in a complete change of course from things in the past where I felt compelled to pretty much write everything and in essence say "here's your part" I've relinquished that need to control the process in favor of something that provides much more satisfaction, which is watching a piece grow, change and mature with the help of others.

Further, the constructive criticism and positive feedback I've received along the way has been most appreciated.
