Hi Everyone - thanks for dropping by.

I have two snippets:

The first is about what I have been up to and the second is a related request for tech help about "tuning your rig for a venue".

____________________________________________________________________________

Firstly:

I am fortunate to have children, girl (or should I say young woman) 23 and boy aged 17.

Both enjoy music and since an early age Laurel has involved herself in formal choral work and some school and university shows. My son has his head in exams at the moment.

She has finished her university and specialist education and has found work until she starts her main job.

I have played in a soul band and a funk band long term and do join other musos in various projects. A recent one was a drums, bass, keyboard, guitar and female singer lineup and I enjoyed the contrasting styles and live presentation.

So I suggested to Laurel that we go out and do some gigs.

We are at the point of finalising the giglist and rehearsing. A cd is nearly there to give away at gigs and to send to potential venues.

Part of the fun in all this was sorting out a live equipment package, finding stuff that would do the task, be reliable and be sufficiently adaptable for the gig set list. Some bits I had already.

I though some might enjoy seeing some pictures of the results and may wish to comment on familiar stuff or experiences.

Detail can be seen better when viewing in my pics area:)

Five of the (US) country's leading internet service providers (ISPs) are taking part in the Copyright Alert System (CAS), which they say is designed to educate rather than punish users.

Suspected persistent copyright infringers will receive six warnings, after which their internet access may be limited but not cut off. Verizon, Time Warner, Cablevision, Comcast and AT&T are all taking part in the initiative, which is co-ordinated by the Center For Copyright Information (CCI) - a group representing rights holders in the media industries.

Meanwhile the UK has favoured a proposed "three strikes" policy.

Larry Hoppen, one of the founding members of the band Orleans, passed away on July 24th, 2012. Born on Long Island, New York, Hoppen was 61 years old.
Between 1969 and 1971, his Ithaca, NY- based band, Boffalongo, made two LPs for United Artists.

The second included the original recording of "Dancin' in the Moonlight", later a hit by friends King Harvest.

Soon after Boffalongo disbanded in late 1971, Larry got a call from (former US Congressman, D-NY, 19) John Hall, inviting him to come to Woodstock, NY to join with the late Wells Kelly and John to form Orleanswhich he did in early 1972. Larry's younger brother, Lance, joined the band the following fall. Tens of millions know Larry's uplifting tenor from the Orleans hits "Still the One", "Dance With Me" and "Love Takes Time".
