Avid announced the upcoming release of Pro Tools 11 this week.  Besides the upgrade to 64bit, there are many other features that greatly improve processing power and workflow.  RTAS is gone for good, so all plugins will need to migrate to the new AAX format.  This upgrade is a significant change from prior versions and I for one am pretty pumped about it.  As Russ Hughes of the Pro Tools Expert Blog put it, Avid opted for a heart transplant rather than a boob job.  Cosmetic improvements were not what was needed.  Avid delivered and then some with this upgrade! 

Few days ago I met an italian musician that show me the prototype of all the Stratocaster .

The bridge has the number 001/1952 -

His father worked with Leo Fender in the '50 . In the '52 they produced 1000 Stratocaster but the product wasn't good so they destroyed 999 guitars . His father got one and didn't destroy it.

As you know the story, Fender produced the Stratocaster in 1954 (2 years after that prototype)

According with the Fender company, the guitar is real (the body) and seem to be the only one survived since 1952.

I got to thinking about this lately and thought kompoz could do a better job of this. I would like to start by saying, I am not here to have a go at kompoz, as I think what they have done for us is a great thing. 

I am probably like most of the other musicians on here and do this primarily for the love of it. However I would like to think at some point in the future, my songs may be good enough for me to consider, sending them to publishers and the like.

I was a pro musician for 8 years, and making your living doing something you love, is second to none. I would love to be able to do the same as a writer/composer and at the same time help anybody here who contributed. Well I can dream cant I ? :)

Anyway I digress, it seems that kompoz royalties set up, could be improved. For example, if I compose a song and play guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and vocals, and decide to get to someone to play triangle, they would get 50 percent of the royalties ? Or have I got it badly wrong ? If so I apologise, if not does this sound right to you ?

Of course there are always ways around these things, maybe setting up private projects and agreeing things in advance etc, but to me although its a difficult area, its one worth sorting.

I'll admit I'm typically the last one to figure out how things work around here, but I've just made a discovery that is so exciting I feel I have to give it a shout out. 

Have you ever noticed that nothing really ever sounds all that great in the workspace?   It sounds "eh," it turns out, because you have to publish and listen to it in Kompoz streaming radio for it to sound "wow" like it does in your DAW!  Perhaps that is why it is called a "work space," as in, space to work.  Hmmm....  

After the work is done, there is one more step to finish.

Few people I collab with, myself included, ever publish.  But, truly, if you publish and the song plays in the radio, then the audio fildelity goes up to 11!  Well, maybe 9, but that's still pretty darn good, comparatively speaking.

Can you tell me where else we can upload that has good sound?   I haven't been impressed with Soundcloud, for example.

For those of you wanting to beef up your VI's and plug-ins, there is a Computer Music Magazine Special Edition out on newstands right now that has a DVD with 150 free plug-ins, many of which are truly great!  Just one of them alone has to be worth the $15.99 US price of the zine. There are tutorials and guides in the zine and on the DVD.  There are Drums, Samplers, ROMplers, Utilities, Synths of all sorts, several FX, Guitar fx and even a couple DAW freebies (like Reaper!). 

For those who use Pro Tools and have the FXpansion VST-RTAS Wrapper, many of these (though not all) will wrap quite nicely and work just fine in PT.  But if you use Reaper inside Pro Tools, then you should be able to use ALL of them if you wish...though probably not all at once!
