Bass player and sound engineer / producer. Although I play bass guitar (poorly), my main activity these days in the collaboration world is more to do with the technical side of sound recording and music production rather than playing bass guitar. In that respect I like to offer help with mixing and mastering. No genre is off limits. I've got some very nice gear at this end, have done both FOH and studio and learned lots of "stuff" from the pro's over several decades - and I'm always happy to share the knowledge gained. First and foremost, I consider myself a sound engineer much in the same way that someone calls his/herself a guitarist or vocalist, etc. One thing I'm not is an expert with a superioristic ego to satisfy. I'm not even an "expert". I tend to communicate in simple terms about technical matters so as not to have people feeling intimidated by the technology - and in particular so that I don't come across as a know-it-all (because I don't know it all). I like learning from others knowledge and experience. Can I just say thank you to all those who have posted nice comments in my profile. I really appreciate all those kind words and feel very humbled by them. I only delete those comments after a while so that I can keep my feet firmly on the ground. I hope I've not offended anyone by deleting their comments. As I always say, "it's you guys who build the car.... I just add a little polish" :o) When looking at some members profiles you'll see a little "supporter" badge against their name. I don't have one at the moment simply because the payment mechanism used is Paypal. I have had a number issues with Paypal over the years and have lost money too. When Kompoz is able to accept credit card payments, I'll be only too happy to make a contrbution. For those who love what Kompoz is and what it does (and if they can afford to), I would urge them to help offset the obvious high running costs. It's the right thing to do :o)
