I'm just turning a corner around a childhood dream (since 9) of performing (ok "rockstar"). I'm cracking the surface of sound synthesis through an online book 'How To Make A Noise'. I really want fundamental selection of sounds on my canvas at this time in my life even though I grew up on as much guitar distortion as there is out there. (The Who, The Dead Kennedys, FEAR, The Clash , JIMI, Sly Stone, (I was too naive for Nick Cave or Elvis Costello)). I'm preparing to, this year, reach deeper into my singing lessons at Hochstein here in my hood; get out into more open-mikes and jams and overcome my fear of DaDaists. (just a joke). In all seriousness I "teach guitar lessons in my living room" ;-( mc Lars. I have a job in music. Therefore I am "immersed in my product". I am not wearing two hats. I wear one. It has taken me all these years of marginal employment, no children to call my own, and a couple of DSM diagnosis to get here. And alot more fruitless searches on the web to get to Kompoz! (you need mo betta propaganda, Kompoz- wtf!!?) I have a weird girlfriend who shares some of the same qualities that I have. She is an inspiration and an awesome ghost-writer. She can target keys of human nature in songwriting that will help us get to "substantial gainful employment" -in music. Lately I've identified with Jack and Meg White. I really dig those weirdos. Ball and Biscuit is exemplary because it is alot of music for just two people on stage. Definitely Joseph Arthur. and Ulrich Schnauss is a new influence. My favorite composer is John Adams. Janes Addiction was the best of times and the worst all in one. I like good songwriting in any genre. 'Improv' is clutch but goddam, pre-meditate on some of those songs. more
