I started playing drums at the tender age of 18, on my mattress and a basketball with 2 meat skewers which I had found in the kitchen drawers. I progressed onto a drum kit some years later and continue to play & study the drums.
I consider myself to be "self-taught" (I think everyone is) although i have been lucky enough to study with some great teachers. Not all of my 'learning' came about in lessons, but rather from informal contact with some fantastic people eg. Clement Benny, Ephrain Toro, James Kibby & George Werner in South Africa and Catherine Clarke-Jones & Matt Bray in Australia - to name but a few...
The bands I've been a part of are extremely varied. I like to challenge myself and not stick to one particular genre. Up till recentley I had been concentrating on one project - Samoko an Afro-Fusion band, currently gigging around Brisbane - But Kompoz is the bomb! loving it...
