Hello, guys. Maybe you can give me a hand with this:

The Need

I'm turning to Live 'cause everyone says it is the tool for the job when playing loops and pads live. I am a bass player, and I want to trigger live keyboard pads to be executed a chord at a time, i.e., as the song progresses, I want to be able to make the chord changes with pedal presses, so my backing track is not click dependent but more "feel" dependent; therefore, instead of having a keyboard player play the parts, I want to "play" them with a footboard.

Skills Acquired

Close to none. I am familiar with Pro Tools and Live´s interface is still confusing to me (I must be the dumbest guy on Earth --everyone raves about how intuitive it is!)

I can play some keyboards to write my pad chords, but I am very little familiarized with MIDI jargon --PC changes, key-input changes, and CC changes (three phrases I've just learned browsing around)

Tools for the Job

- MacBook Pro w/ OSX 10.6.6

- Ableton Live 8 (8.1.4)

- Boss FC50 midi foot controller (midipipe and midi monitor downloaded)

- Roland Midi interfase 1 in and 1 out, 16 channels

- Lots of positive vibe and hope I'll pull this off.

I'm looking forward to your replies. Thanks a great lot in advance,

Carlos

P.S. All I've read so far is hinting me in, but I still can't get it. I need a Dumb's Guide to Step-by-step Chord Playing in Live ;)

I sorted it out. I got my pedalboard controlling Live, finding for the first-time ever use for this DAW.

I appreciate the support of all those onlookers who did not reach out at all.

Apologies for not being able to help with your query as I don't have a foot controller, but I would have to disagree with you, as I think I am not the smartest person when it comes to live as I don't find it intuitive at ALL & I've been using it off & on for the last few years...
