Hi Rob, Figme, guys :-) As planned went for a drum/percs bed track. Didn't include Raul's ideas nor the bass seps. A few comments : I went for a "latin" feel thrughout except the bridge where I cheated (cross between Samba & Bomba). So here is the dilema : Latin feel was dictated mainly by raul's ideas whereas the keys and bass seps I have heard are leaning towards a "brazilian jazz" type gruv. I would think about experimenting comping with the keys differently on this bed track to decide where it should go. Also the bass playing will have to adopt one definite style as actual playing moves thru one or another. Didn't hear specific and definite transitions where to incorporate solis and fills as mentionned in arrangement ideas. I did however spliced the first 2 verses (keys and bass seps), copy the first 4 bars and use them to replace the first 4 as I felt the comping at the keys was rythmically more defined. Just an idea. Horn arrangement and bass will give a better definition to this song, so I'll suggest getting these down first before final keys. Again, the drums/percs provided here iare for reference only. The final take and playing details will be recorded once structure, arrangement and feel is correctly defined. I made other versions of this, including "brazilian jazz" feel. My take on it is that it sounds too "redundant", not rythmically and harmonically defined yet (lacks nice transitions in between parts.) OK. I gave my 0.02$worth. With devaluation and foreign exchange rates, might not be worth a whole lot :-) Later. Cheers. Stickz.

Stickz...this second take is very nice indeed. I must preface my comments as a non-expert on Latin rhythms. I think what I was shooting for is a...well, let's say a Light Rock / Samba. The jazz feel is imparted with the chord movement which is very jazz oriented and the keyboard comp. Yes, the timing of the keyboard is intentionally very "off beat". The keyboard comp can be changed/tweaked as needed to fit the rhythmic groove. I especially like the percussive feel of your track during the verses. It was very nice. I believe the fills which I mentioned along with subtle dynamic changes during the solo section and outro will become apparent when we place the solo tracks. I realize it is difficult to respond to a part when it hasn't been placed yet. Anyway, I like the take. Please be patient as I'm trying to write lyrics. bob

Hi Bob. Thanks for the comments. I'll upload the "brazilian jazz" version I made so you can get a glimpse of a new arrangement. I'll try to chop the original one in order to see where a "non existing part" might fit :-) IMHO, the latin feel will give a very uplifting spirit to this song, the "brazilian jazz" will be more subdued. More later.

Ok. Here it is. I cut and spliced some of the song to work on different intros and such. Didn't work much on a mix or anything. Just to get the feel out there. Lemme know whatch'a think. Cheers :-)
