A Few New Things

Today we released a few small enhancements based on feedback from the Kompoz kommunity. I thank you all for contributing your ideas, and encourage you to please keep them coming. Post your requests in the Wish Lists and Suggestions forum.
Updates included in this release:
Show alerts for unread private messages on every page. This one was suggested by Billy.
Add the forum topic to the subject line of e-mails sent when new forum messages are posted. This one was suggested by many!
Show Creative Commons license icon on project overview pages. This one was suggested by Drew.
Add Getting Started flow chart for new members. This one was suggested (and implemented!) by Ben.

hey raf, just poking about and it seems we may have had a bit of a misunderstanding.
The icons are cool on the project pages for sure, but where the info (in icon or text form) would be more useful would be places like the front page and wherever else we see "lists" of projects.
As an example on the front pahe in the member picks section. Just looking at that section now, genre info would be a welcome addition as well. (I know there could be an issue of space. Perhaps the genre in text on a background where a colour code represents the cc license?)

Thanks Raf..I don't remember that suggestion but I guess I could take the credit! The "Getting Started" flow chart is awesome.. and will hopefully cut down on projects being started that have no tracks. I only wish it was a little more obvious.. make the tab in color? Actually I think it should be somewhere that's more obvious to newbies. Something that would draw attention to itself. Newbies need to go here first.. not discover it after they've been here awhile.

i was badgering Raf (well racooning actually since they're smaller) to change the 'Start a Project' button on the front page to Get started - so people would be taken to the help section before they jumped in with a project. what do you think?

maybe have two buttons a start project and a get started one,it would be kinda a pain if your familiar with the system to be taken to the help section everytime,i dunno though just my two cents:)

hey, perhaps have get started take you to a help page until you have started your first project and then skip it?

point taken Jason,certainly a pain in the rear - but theres also a 'start project' button at the top centre of every page for people who want to start something .
good call drew - maybe a tick box in profile- 'don't show me help page again'.

ok cool additions, now i dont need the non-existent kompoz toolbar for firefox 3.1 :)
