First, a couple of new sponsors have indicated that they would like to participate, and add some juicy prizes to the massive Rudy Sarzo "Off The Rails" loot. We like loot. Especially gear loot. And the more loot, the more chances for you guys to win awesome gear. So to thank the sponsors and to give them a chance to promote the contest (and for us to promote them), we're pushing the end date of the songwriting portion out to Sunday, January 27th. Check out the first new sponsor announcement below.
Second, I've received many e-mails from Kompozers saying that they will be out of town during the last couple of weeks of December -- away from their home studios -- due to the holidays. I want to give everyone a chance to really give this contest their full attention. The prizes are HUGE, and the winning tracks will be promoted on RudySarzo.com and other channels. We want your best work.
Third, there has been some confusion about collaboration vs. individual contributions. We want to stress that this is a collaboration contest, and that you should be working with others to complete your songs. We want fully fleshed out songs. Focus on structure, the mix, balance, and of course melody. Sure you can work solo, but you'll have a much better chance of placing in the top 3 if you leverage the Kompoz collaboration model (i.e., take advantage of the massive talent pool at Kompoz). Remember, everyone on the winning teams will be eligible for a prize!
So the new end date is January 27, 2009. All contest submissions received by the 27th will be posted to a Kompoz/Rudy Sarzo channel on OurStage.com starting on February 1st. Judging for People's Choice will take place during the month of February, and the winners will be announced during the first week of March.
