This one time, at band camp...

I came across a pretty cool site the other day, designed for bands that want to sell their music online directly to fans. Bandcamp.mu makes it easy to setup a branded mini-site with fast streaming and downloads, tools for sharing your music, custom headers, usage stats, and more. Bands can set download prices by track, or allow fans to set their own prices using the Radiohead model.
I kicked the tires and setup a quick kompoz page for our All Over The Map CD. I have not yet uploaded all of the songs, but I will do so soon. The process overall was very simple. I like that I can customize the header of the site, and that the mini-site I created for Kompoz has no annoying ads or even a Bandcamp logo anywhere. As they state in their marketing materials, "Bandcamp isn’t Yet Another Place to Put Your Music. We power a site that’s yours. So instead of our logo plastered between banner ads for Sexy Singles Chat, your fans see your design, your music, your name, your URL. You retain all ownership rights, and we just hang out in the background handling the tech stuff."
A couple of things to note: You will need a PayPal business account if you want to sell your music. In other words, you'll need to upgrade from your personal account if you have one. Also, you must upload in WAV or AIF format -- no MP3 files. So find your original mastered mixes before you decide to upload.
