Hey....my name's Alexzander Doris.....but everyone ether calls me Doris or they call me Prodigy.......mainly because i'm 18 and i have had no training.....i can do a lot of things.....but i proclaim to be a drummer, and will always be a drummer at heart.....my band right now Dolly Shock And The Death Kats ( www.myspace.com/dollyshockandthedeathkats ) [music up soon] is just getting ready to go on tour in August and we're trying really hard to get our music done w/ and get a demo going for everyone and we're still looking for some recording gear......it's very limited right now on what we can record........and using the recording gear i'll be able to do some stuff on here for you guys.....or else it'll have to be a Garageband thing.....i know i can make them into Mp3's........but i have no idea how to put a Mp3 into Garageband........but i'll find a way.....a little history about me as a musician........well.......i've been in numerous bands that ended really fast do to a wide array of complications......in other words......don't make bands with teenagers who want a life.......because to be a musician at such an early age you need to willing to throw it all away.....which no one was.....so, yeah.....fell free to hit me up and talk about different ideas, or anything really.....and soon i'll have that gear to help you guys out......PEACE!

Do you have a PC?
take a look at 64 Studio:
http://64studio.com/
and Ubuntu Studio:
http://ubuntustudio.org/
Each should have a bunch of software you can try to get started. And I think they both come in live versions which you can boot to and test without installing anything on your PC.
Get a USB mic that can work with linux (if it does standard USB audio it should be good, if you have a laptop and the live cd/dvd, you can take it in to the music shop to test things.)
Or get the alesis multimix8usb mixer and a regular mic:
(Just semi inexpensive suggestions. Don't rely on my word. Do some research and decide for yourself. If you have a PC, you can get the software for no charge and test things for yourself.)

How to put an MP3 into GarageBand? Just create a project in GB and then drag the mp3 from your desktop and drop it into the project window. GB will create the track for you. It could not be easier. Works the same for wav files too. Sounds like you'd rather not be using GB but it's a great way to go especially if you don't have alot of digital recording software experience.
