I've also Recently (April 2009) acquired a pair of electric guitars primarilly for the use of the younger members of my family (I figured...if they needed to doodle...at least the gear is there for them).

I think the rig worth mentioning (and what I would be using should I feel the need to document musical thoughts):

Guitar: Ibanez (GIO) Mikro (I was fortunate to have found a Vintage Sunburst version of the batch that came out for the Ibanez 2008 Aniversary)

Multi-Effects: Line6's Floor Pod

Recording: Straight through from The Floor Pod to the Computer's Line-In Connection (Audacity gives enough flexibility to select a mic or something that has gone through a pre-amp)
