I have had a relationship with music most of my life. I listen to most styles and try not to be limited to one genre.
AC/DC. Bon Jovi, Bonnamassa, BB King, Buddy Guy, Cream Clapton. Def Leppard. Evenessance, Evergrey, Iron Maiden, Judas Preist, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Vangellis, Mike Oldfield, Van Halen, Thin Lizzy, Free, Wes Montgomery, Metallica, Megadeth, Dream Theatre, Threshold, Slipknot, Spocks Beard. Queen. Zappa
Gear: Mostly Ibanez guitars and various amp moddlers. a couple of acoustics and a Peavey Millenium Bass. A couple of dynamic and condensor mics for acoustic instruments.
Yamaha keyboard used as midi controller for soft synths.
I use Cubase 5 and a few plugins
A few headphones, favrotes are AKG. KRK R5 monitors.
To date my achievements have been modest. I gained a Music degree and grade 8 guitar several years ago, but I have yet to appear on any studio albums like many of my muso friends bands. I have gigged regularly for the last 10+ years but I always found the coverband option more financially rewarding and less complicated...turn up, play the gig, get paid, go home.....after years of doing this I'm starting to really miss the excitement of writing songs with other people. I'm feeling the creative bug bite me again.
Because I teach music most eveings, this Limits time I can spend with gigging bands playing original material, an evening spent rehearsing with band means losing students and income, collaborating online means I can work on projects in my own time without leaving home studio....Online music collaborations like Kompoz look like a nice way to experience creativity.....
