| Overview |
I wrote this in the heartland of Oklahoma before work one morning. It began as something about trees, and developed into a dialog between a daughter who unexpectedly stepped into something overpowering, and her mother attempts to awaken her from her long dreaming and call her back to the safety of home. It's intentinally meloncholy, and has a Celtic lilt and rhythm. It needs strong female vocals with harmony, a hand percussionist (bell, conga, dijimba), and possibly another world string instrument(s). This was the first and last recording of the piece. See the "Talk about it" tab for Taken by Fire lyrics.
