I am a bit surprised and definately gratified to see so many chose the Free licenses. I was looking for BY-SA music needing lyrics during the month and it was not so easy to come by.
It has been a pleasure working on this challenge with you all this month. We has some early rough spots but we moved through them and things settled down nicely.
I don't mean to slight anyone but from where I stand, Casia was a real workhorse for the group organizationally and I want to offer many thanks. You did let the daily blogs fall by the wayside Casia but considering everything else you pulled off, that is understandable. ~;-)
Again, to everyone who participated in any way, even just signing up in the early going which brought life to the group, thanks so much.
If there is any interest on the part of the project starters for the projects that did not finish or make it onto the official CD, perhaps some may want to consider the extended album for all that started as a part of RPM09 and finish within some reasonable time frame?
Thanks Drew for all your work also.. can you explain the title of "It's a Mystery".. it's a mystery to me. and what does the asterisk before Philippe's name mean?
it is simply a yearly challenge where people around the world are asked to record an album in the month of Feb.
Similar to NaNoWriMo where people are asked to write a nove in November and to Script Frenzy where people are asked to write a movie etc in April.
Just something to do. With like minded others possibly. Those of us that did it this year now have an album to play that we had a hand increating. Pretty cool from my point of view.
That's very sweet drew, thank you :). And yes, believe me, I feel guilty about the blog! I had good intentions it just wasn't meant to happen in my schedule. I'm going to miss the daily chatter and laughs...feeling lonely today hahahah! Now, I must get two research papers written that I procrastinated on all month - I'm way behind.
Big THANK YOUs to all involved, special thanks to drew (what's with that small "d" you use, I wonder?) and Casia for getting us into this and successfully leading us through it and out on the other side victoriously. If it was a Kontest, we would have won.
I would also like to thank the "unusual suspects" Casia (again), Jim and Robert for their kontributions to "The Perfect Party". I have not worked with any of you before, I believe, but will gladly do so again! The more usual suspects Dave and Rab (in the shape of his alter ego - Lord Dark Fader) are of course also - as always - much appreciated.
I also received excellent, but sadly not possible to include, kontributions from Michael, Darren and my brother in arms Lonnie. A big thank you to you too!
Now, to take our revenge on the RPM folks for this stressful month :), I suggest they have to create 10 RPM Challenge web sites (or 35 minutes of flash animation) during the month of March. We will then have surfing parties to which they must submit a URL.
Rock On and looking forward to the 2010 challenge :)
I am listening to the album on my iCrackpod right now and am absolutely in awe at how excellent everything is. As Agent Rock On might say FORNICATING EXCELLENT. Kudos to EVERYONE!!!
Thanks first to Drew for starting this group and Casia for organizing it so well. Then to all collaborators, especially those who got the projects over the finish line while I was away.
This was a good experience for me, to try to force myself to record music, yet to keep it creative... and it was just a bit harder than I expected. but it did force me to finally start projects on Kompoz, which is something I was putting off while spending my time joining other projects.
All of the projects will still be open for further development, and there is still some material I need to finish up and post!
My gratitude follows: Thanks, drew and Casia for being the hub of this wheel, providing impetus, lyrics, and organization. Thanks to Erik, Rab, and Marty for all of the post-production efforts. Thanks to Marty and Tracy for jumping in with finishing touches on projects that needed it done quickly, and to all my project-mates for the fantastic sounds. And finally, thank you to the folks who worked on all of the songs on this CD. I was trying desperately to keep up with how everyone was doing, and it was so nice yesterday to sit down with the CD and listen to it from start to finish and hear all. So impressed by the talent and (more important to me) the heart shown by this Group. Awesome job!
This was a blast and I'm already missing the daily chatter. What a wonderful project to start my adventures here on Kompoz. You guys are awesome and I really enjoyed this and look forward to working with everyone on new projects. Also, look forward to putting the finishing touches on our albums songs as well so we can call them "complete" in our own minds.
Everyone did a terrific job. Now we know exactly what we need to do next year! And the party will have to be at Marty's for sure hahaha! (and just because it rhymes!)
We are swamped in great big glorious stacks of incoming CDs! As we continue the check-in process, you can help from home by helping us load the new RPM Jukebox!
The new Jukebox Uploader is open and ready for use. Help us fill the new Jukebox with your 2009 RPM albums by going to jukebox.rpmchallenge.com and logging in with your existing RPM username and password; then fill in your 2009 band and album information, and upload your 2009 RPM tracks!
Please make sure your tracks are mp3s sampled at 44,100 kHz, and preferably at 128kbps.
While the 2009 Jukebox pages are not visible yet, the uploader is, so now is your chance to enter your song and album information as you'd like it to appear in the Jukebox, so it's ready at launch. We need your help loading it with your music so that the Jukebox is not empy when we roll it out (which could be happening within the week).
We'll have more details about the features of the new Jukebox soon. In the meantime, if you have any problems or questions, don't hesitate to email us at info@rpmchallenge.com; if you get an error message when uploading a file, wait 30 minutes and then try that file again, a few people have been getting a similar error message but it comes and goes over time.
Really, cool! I thought it was just the listening party song. That's great news and it sounds like it may be available within the week. Now I can send all my friends there hahaha!
OK, I have just spent some time and uploaded 3 songs so far. The jukebox let's us choose if the songs should be downloadable from itself.
I decided to say yes for the Free licensed songs and no for the NC songs. If you have an NC song on the album and want it to be downloadable from the RPM jukebox, let me know and I will toggle it. Likewise, if you have a Free one that you do not wish to be downloadable (I can't imagine this but just to be complete) let me know as well.
I hope to put more up soon. I have two complete albums to put up and I am a bit busy so I will do the best I can.
Yes, I was just over at the RPM, hoping to put some links to it, guess I'll wait til they are all up. Can you let us know when they are all there, thanks.
