Back in the USA Wed, Jan 13, 2010 06:20 PM CST - Byraf
Hey everyone,
Apologies for not answering PMs and my general quietness. I've bee in London for the past few days (actually, in London one night, Lowestoft another, and on planes the rest of the time). I'm catching up on messages, while I try to find my luggage (yes, the airline lost it).
A few things I learned while in London:
It's colder than Miami!
The people are super awesome nice. Cheers!
The food is super un-awesome and not nice. Liver, Mushy Peas, Pork Cheeks, ... Really?
It gets dark there far too early.
Did I mention that the people are super nice?
Gas (oops, excuse me... "Petrol") is expensive, cars are small, yet I didn't see any alternative fuel cars or hybrids -- that was surprising.
Those damn Americans are putting up KFCs and McDonalds everywhere. Sorry.
People speak with funny accents.

And I thought you were either napping or had fled to Aruba to escape the frost in Miami.. instead, you went north? and which airline was that?

Welcome back, Raf! Oddly you don't seem to have noticed that they drive on the wrong side of the road? Or did your limos have tinted windows all the time? :). Also: Fish and Chips is definitely not bad food, especially when consumed together with a pint of lager.

"a" pint? I believe there needs to be an "s" on lager, old chap.

I did enjoy a pint or two (or three). The brand was Adnams, which I'm told is local to the general Lowestoft area where I spent most of my time. It was VERY good. I also enjoyed the fish and chips, and while it too was very good, it just does not compare to the fresh fish found and prepared in Miami.
They drive on the wrong side of the road? Huh, I didn't notice that!
Cheers.

Jolly good show, old sport, jolly good. I say, Kompoz should establish a representative office in the British Empire somewhere. Wouldn't that be splendid?

Yeah...you have to pay the airlines extra now to misplace your luggage. Hopefully you snapped a picture at Abbey Road.

Good news: Airline (AA) found my bag! Bad news: It's in London!
Man, I didn't get to Abbey Road, or many of the other great London landmarks. I was only there for 1.5 days, and it was all business. I want to go back and properly "visit".

Welcome back. Hmmm, Oyster Stout - Thankfully it doesn't appear to contain oysters, but 4.3% seems a little low for a winter warmer. 'Course it's probably colder here than in Jolly Old.

Welcome back, Raf. Remember... the next time you visit the UK and want to do more accent studies, you must try Glasgow. I'll say no more other than the people are super awesome nice there too.
