MenuWe've made a few improvements to the site navigation and to the overall site look-and-feel.  The biggest and most noticable improvement is the addition of the new dropdown menus.   We hope you like them.  We do.

Other improvements you may not have noticed right away include:

  • PDF documents uploaded to projects (for lyrics, chord charts, etc) are now viewable directly (embedded) within the track page.  Here's an example

  • MIDI files uploaded to projects can now be previewed on the page, if your browser supports it (you might need a plug-in, such as QuickTime).  Keep in mind, though, that MIDI files without a context will always play back as a piano sound.

Raf, you are on a roll! I am very happy to see you "back", and it's stuff like this that made us all addicted in the first place (apart from all the wonderful, wacky people on the site). I hereby inform you that the donation I am about to make to Kompoz shall be used solely for the following purposes:

  • As many lattes as you can drink

  • Several bottles of that ridiculous liquid you call "beer" - Corona

  • Since you are in Miami, why not a real Cuban cigar?

Welcome back, buddy, we missed you!

Rock On

You got yer "form" crowd and you got yer "function" crowd. I vary from day to day. Today I'm diggin' the new form.

I'm probably blind but where's the drop down to create a new folder under your project?

no i know what you mean Ron, previously, we could create folders within our projects with which to add and organise tracks ...and could name them such as project inbox, project buid tracks...it was a useful feature..whats happened to it Raf?
additionally a small point..you have two upload "buttons" on the tracks page of projects..'upload new track' near the top of the page and the 'upload' radio button just on the top left of the tracks list.....what about just one - that would cover it, wouldn't it?

The Folder concept has been removed. It was removed deliberately, as it was causing too much confusion with new users. I should never have used the folder metaphor, since that is a well established pattern that does not translate 100% to the Kompoz implementation. The big difference is that -- on kompoz -- you didn't really move tracks out of the root folder to another folder. Instead, when you placed a track in a folder, it existed in that folder and in the root folder. In other words, folders on Kompoz where just a way of grouping tracks, without really moving them. So, I plan to implement something more appropriate. I plan to use "tags" instead. You will be able to "tag" tracks and then filter based on those tracks.

As far as multiple 'upload' buttons/links, oversight or not, multiple roads to the same function is a good web design principal. In fact, it can cut down on the tech support messages.

I thought the folders were a good orginizational tool for certain projects Raf. I hope the tags implementation will work as good. Thanks for all of the improvements!
