New Project Licensing Options

Today we added two new Creative Commons licensing options; available to all members. The two new options are:
- No Derivative Works
- Noncommercial-No Derivative Works
With the addition of these two new options, Kompoz now fully supports all six Creative Commons licenses. These apply to both Public and Private Projects for all members.
For Kompoz PLUS members only, we have added a traditional "(c) All Rights Reserved" license option for Public projects. Up until now, this was only available in Private projects. Thanks for all of the input. |

Thank you, Raf.
This is a very, very important issue for me. Everyone here cares about their music and how it is handled. It's one of the reasons why we land in heated discussions/arguments/legal battles about everything from bass strings to royalties. It's also a reason why some of us end up at odds with each other.
I would encourage everyone to take the time to learn about the different licensing options and what they mean as well as how they work and how it would apply to them.
Public Domain (CC0)? Absolutely. There may very well be applications for it. Maybe there could be a Kompoz Samples/Beats catalog/archive made available to our fellow users for use in creating more music that could fall under this license.

Is the ,all rights reserved the best one to use ? Reading all the rules is like reading instructions, something I just cannot do ! The amount of flatpack furniture I have assembled incorrectly.

Thank you Raf - I'd been following Astronut's blog and whilst I didn't comment I really felt it was important and I'm glad he raised it.
We need as much choice on Kompoz as possible for all the different types of projects we work on.
Thanks!

I am absolutely 100% in favor of Public Domain as an option. It would make it that much easier for others to use my stuff. Experience and research have taught me that there isn't a chance in hell anyone is going to pay me or anybody else on this site for use of a song. Thats okay with me. It is what it is. My vote is cast.

Brannon,I don't think I could even give my music away ! No one wants to hear it, it's pretty shit but not as shit as what I hear on the radio, but it would be annoying if some punk did make a few dollars from your material & you didn't even get asked of it could be used.

Thanks Raf for the "(c) All Rights Reserved" licence. It has been my preference always. It's the only one I even half understand :)

I just got the Kompoz newsletter, which compiled all of these recent changes. Great stuff Raf, with Craig and Jon included. I really like the "fresh paint", but it goes a lot deeper than that. I'm a little change-resistant when it comes to Kompoz, but the site is now better than ever. Very well done
