Ha! I'm thinking about making lamps out of my guitars. All of them! Tonight was the first time in several weeks that I've had a few minutes to contribute a track or two. But everything I try sounds like crap. Must be the guitars. Do they go bad?

Did you check to see if there are expiration dates on the guitars?

That might be the problem. I had to move them out of the fridge to make room for the beer.

On the other hand you could adjust your taste in beer to match those of Europeans, and my tastes in women - lukewarm, flat and bitter.

Speaking of things expiring...has anyone figured out what to do with spent guitar strings? I know you're supposed to change them only every three years or 3000 miles which ever comes first but what then to do with the unstrung strings? I now that I think of it what da heck is an "unchained melody"? Do I need to worry about running into one at night?

I have never seen an electric trumpet before. Is it 110 ac? Is that a new kind of mute on the top? How does it sound? Just curious. As for the "unchained melody", I think that's a term used by bikers. It is how a Harley sounds when the chain comes off. I always wondered what a broken chord was? Pete

A broken chord can be easily fixed, not to worry. A suitable reference is the publication Leave Home (Ramone, Ramone, Ramone and Ramone, 1977) where no chords whatsoever are broken. Certain chords break easier than others, especially those in the key of C major, but if you take some precautonary measures (super-gluing all fingers on the left hand together to avoid them spreading on the fretboard), you will be able to keep also those chords non-broken.

well I know a broken cord is a pile of firewood that won't stay stacked properly..but a broken chord can be much more troublesome. Although some are easily fixed, as B1 points out, there are a few which wil stubbornly refuse to stay repaired. It is best to throw them away as soon as possible because they can infect the other chords quickly.

Good reference material, Björn. Also note The Return of the Son of Monster Magnet (F. Zappa, 1966) in which everything was broken.

Seen vintage saxes made into lamps. Really funny. ;-)
More funny is the fact that if they hadn't, they'd be worth $1500 each by now. ;-)

Come to think of it, that lamp is probably easier to play than a Peashooter trumpet from the 30's.....

Well, I can't say I devalued this trumpet any. I didn't drill anything, cut anything, weld anything, or glue anything. It's missing some parts, making it easy to run the cord through. I only paid 3 dollars for it, and the lamp parts were from a broken lamp. I'd say it's now worth more than I paid for it.
I don't think I'd have the heart to do this with a saxophone. Trombone... sure.

Thank you everybody (or Guys and cats), that was the band playing "insert song title ", featuring MDK on table lamp.... How is that going to be explained?
@Lonnie Europeans?...chokes on his dark shag and takes another swig of Old Jock........Bitter is not to be drunk first thing. It is reserved for luncheon and early dinner.

"Bitter is not to be drunk first thing."
Very true, Phraser. At that time, the faithful old Family Retainer is bringing me a Pimms on a silver tray, prior to his morning beating with a horsewhip. ;-)
