45 year old drummer. Just got back into playing about 6 months ago (Dec 2007) after a 12 year break. Started playing at age 10, played in school bands thorough high school. Majored in Chemistry at Indiana University, but took music (drum) lessons/classes through my college career because I love drumming. Played in many rock bands since age 16. I have toured and played hundreds of gigs, but I no longer desire that lifestyle since I now have a family and a professional job as a Chemist. My main interest is heavy/hard rock and progressive rock/metal, although I like ALL music. My style leans toward heavy, double-bass drum with tasteful fillls and a unique/creative style. I am able to play dynamically and with skill, I am not just a "pound the drums to death" type of heavy drummer. I consider myself a cross between Tommy Aldrich and Mike Portnoy, who are two of my influences. I have an acoustic kit, but recently started playing a Roland electronic kit which I prefer. The Roland kit is just a TD-3 I bought as an experiment into eDrums, but now I'm hooked. My intent is spend a lot more money on a "real" electronic kit as I'm now greatly limited with the TD-3. Any music I collaborate on will be done utilizing my TD-3 kit as I'm a family man and I must be considerate. If things were to become more serious, I have the resources to buy pretty much anything I need. As it stands now, I have a fair amount of musical equipment and I'm constantly adding to it. My goal with the collaboration concept is to simply contribute some drum tracks to players in need. I want to do this just because I enjoy drumming as a hobby. Currently, I've been jamming with a guitarist and bassist in a live setting once a week. We work purely on original material but I need more. What I'd like to get is some basically completed tracks minus drums and then put my drum licks on top. I'm not looking to become rich from this or join a band and tour the world, it is purely for my entertainment and to help out some other musicians that might feel like I do. If your goals and ideology are similar to mine, I'd love to hear from. I'm open to playing all styles of music even though I've defined my preference above. Please contact me if you're interested.
