I am 32 and started my musical journey at the age of 16 when I got my first guitar. I was living in a cabin in a small town with my father and working across the street for a husband, wife and a 90 year old preacher woman from the midwest. They were jewelers, and I was there perpetually stoned and confused teenage apprentice.
Sure enough they dragged me off to my first bluegrass jam. This particular meeting had been happening for over 30 years in the same house. The next youngest person to me was in her mid 40's. Man could those people jam, blew my mind. Marilyn's (the wife) brother bobby had been playing guitar for 50 years, he had played with chet atkins and more. He was an amazing musician. I was astounded and listened to everything he told me.
My journey went on from there. In 2003 I was introduced to a program called Reason. I loved it. Made some wonky piano pieces that were completely erratic. Now I use ableton combined with native instruments goodies. Although I stick mostly to the electronic range of music, I do occasionaly compose a digital symphonic piece, or something a bit more indie in style.
I love music. And finally I am doing something about putting my work out there. If you go and poke around my social network you see that I am working on a project called 30 in 30. Composing 30 songs in 30 days. Uploading the songs the same day they are made. These are midi constructed (of course I have my methods of making things a bit faster, but each note is essentially placed by me). It is really exciting just wondering what this little challenge will do to help me break through some boundaries, and what others will think of it. So check out the project when you get a chance.
I look forward to meeting and collaborating with a bunch of you.
