I Listen to/Play Minor Melodic Guitar Metal/Rock of the progressive odd signature type. This generally falls under 80's Prog Metal... although there are few survivors out there in the New Millenium. I primarily play and write with the guitar - Charvel Model 6 and a somewhat customized Yamaha RGZ 211M (Shaved neck, Screamin Demon Bridge Pickup, and Schaller Trem). I run 'em through either a Mesa Strategy 500 or a 200 watt Rectifier then to a Pevey Stereo 4x12 cab with the old GK85 Celestions. The Pre-amp section consists of Acer Laptop w/EMU 1616 Sound Card and Module (splits the signal to Guitar Rig 3 and ADA MP1/ART Alpha 2.0)... all signal then comes back to a Beringer Mini Mixer before it hits the power section. It's miced with (SM57, SM58 off-axis, and an Octavia Condenser sittin' back to catch the the throw. Pretty complex - but very versatile. When I feel like there's something to sing about... I'm running an MX for vocals. I also play: Bass - Jackson PS5 into whatever sounds good - Direct Box, Guitar Rig 3, ProSonus Compressor or whatever. (Usually Guitar Rig 3). Keys - Korg X3 into whatever Virtual Synth does the trick. Drums - (Not very proficient at this yet) Remo Practice pad kit on short cage with Sound Percussion rubber Mute Pads, Pintech triggers, Drum KAT MIDI KITI trigger processor sending to Battery 3... and an array of Zildjian Cymbals (Picked for me by another drummer). Studio is Cubase SX 3, Fostex 450 Mixer (Some day I'll have a reason to get something newer - it works) with a 12-Ch Beringer side Mixer for Vocals, Custom Built/Tuned Monitors, and ADAT XT (really only used as A/D Converter to get more tracks to Steinberg 2020 Card via Light-Pipe). If I've accomplished anything, it is that I've gotten away with practicing and composing music for this long. I've been playing since 13 and I'm 37 now. Over the years, I've been provided with many reasons for succumbing to the "Less-is-more" syndrome... or the "It's time to grow up and put away your toys" disease... or the "How do you make money at that?" attack. I ignored them all.
