I'm am a 39 y/o guitar player that played with my own local (DFW) band called theShake from 1996-2001. Since then, music is pretty much a hobby that takes a back seat to my day job. That's OK. I kind of like it that way...no pressure. Ha! My band and I recorded three CD's, although we only released 2 of those. The first was a full-length project scaled down to a 3 song demo/EP due to budget constraints (as usual). This one was done in 1997 at a pro studio on 2 inch tape. In 1999, we did the second CD that was to be the full-length that we originally wanted in the first place. This one was done on a Pro Tools system in a makeshift studio in this house that a friend's band lived in at the time. We got 10 songs, but definitely gave up quality for quantity. We felt it was important at the time to have a full-length that could fetch $10 at a gig. Then, in 2001, we drove to Nashville to record 5 songs in a week for a ambitious, up and coming young producer to shop to the industry. We would have liked to have released this CD as a third effort, but due to our own lackluster opinion of the mixdowns and a break up of the band, it never happened. That's pretty much the pinnacle of my music career experience. I started using Pro Tools LE back in 2005 to start some more serious home recording projects. It was time to move into the 21st century. I now use Kontakt 2 for most of my instrument sounds outside of acoustic and electric guitar. I run PTLE on a Gateway laptop via Windows XP Pro. Have since 2005. I think about moving over to Mac someday, but who knows. My gear in a nutshell: Guitars: Martin D-16GT, Fender Tele Plus (think Jonny Greenwood), Gibson ES-135. Amps: Fender Blues Jr., Marshall JCM 900 Dual Reverb 50 watt 2x12, 1970ish Fender Bassman silverface head, vintage Vox 2x12 cabinet. Effects: Boss VF-1, and various other stompbox effects... Mics: MXL 990/991 set, Shure SM-57 DAW: Pro Tools LE 7.3, Kontakt 2, Sampletank LE, Guitar Rig XE
