I played piano for a short time around 1972 and hated it. I played violin for a short time around 1974 and hated it. I finally picked up the guitar in 1976 and never put it down.

After learning some basic chords from the husband of a friend of my mother's, I taught myself how to play lead guitar in the mid 80's. Then I met a guy at work who impressed me so much with his ability to discuss music that I took jazz lessons in the late 90's, which opened my eyes to music theory. That helped unstick some of the songs I composed that seemed to be kind of lifeless.

I composed and multitracked from the late 80's through to the late 90's. I played open mic nights with friends and started a couple of bands that never went anywhere, mainly because musicians are either full-time pro's or don't take it at all seriously. I'm somewhere in between. I had a couple of kids by then and things tapered off until this past year. This site makes me feel like pulling out all my old equipment and doing some recording again!
