Fernstock Music Festival Sun, Nov 4, 2007 09:36 AM CST - Byraf
Last night I attended Fernstock V, a local music festival featuring live local artists cranking out good ol' Rock-n-Roll! My good friends Mr. Nice Guy played a rip-roaring set (I'll post videos later) featuring original music off of their latest CD.
The headliner this year was Slow Ride, a new band featuring Tony Stevens, original bassist for Foghat. I had a chance to meet Tony before the show (and I got a photo to prove it!).
Slow Ride has a new CD out titled "Join Together" which includes a low-down, slide-filled, kick-ass re-make of "Fool for the City", which originally appeared on Foghat's 1975 platinum album of the same name (that album also includes the hit single "Slow Ride" which is not coincidentally the name of the new band). Have a listen to the song on their MySpace page.
I'll post videos and photos shortly. I'm waiting for the audio recorded off the board.

As the webmaster for the Fernstock Music Festival (http://fernstock.us), let me just say that Fernstock V was truly outstanding, the best one yet. Slow Ride kicked ass with an outstanding set to wrap up the festival. You could just tell the band members were enjoying themselves immensely, having a blast cranking out some serious, tight rock 'n roll. They even included some great Savoy Brown, pre-Foghat. The crowd loved it all, and pressed the stage to get close to that fantastic energy. Their performances of "Fool for the City" and "Slow Ride" were awe-inspiring and left the crowd wanting more.
Tony Stevens expressed a heartfelt desire to come back and play next year's Fernstock: We humbly accept! and would love to have him and all of Slow Ride back. Having members of the other acts come up and join the band for the great rendition of "Join Together" was a classy touch everyone enjoyed.
Thank you, Tony Stevens and all of Slow Ride.
Please check out the 'official' ;) Fernstock Music Festival website at http://fernstock.us. I'll be posting sound, video and stills from Fernstock V as they become available.
Peace to all.
