From my first day, Bjorn has been one of the best ‘teachers’ one could ever ask for. Always willing and able to help out fellow Komopzers, can play absolutely anything from METAL (see www.humancometh.com ) to Jazz (see www.facebook.com/alicebjorn )
And he’s quick with a joke or a light up your smoke – Hmmmm, that sounds familiar…. Oh well.
Ladies & Geets, I give you sanger’s Spot Light On Bjorn Pehrson (B1)!!!!
sanger: Has Kompoz made you a better bass/guitar player?
B1: Kompoz has made me an infinitely better bass player, a better guitar player and has boosted my songwriting ability to a level I cannot believe. It has also inspired me to buy a ukulele and an upright bass, both of which I had never played before joining.
sanger: How so?
B1: There are several factors that make me better by being on Kompoz. The first and foremost is of course to hear other players that are so much better, and to learn and steal from them. Much like when I started out and listened to records and radio and tried to figure out what they played. The difference here, of course being that I can actually ask the player.
Secondly, the "nakedness" of recorded tracks makes you hear much more of your mistakes, I used to play a lot in live bands, and there is a lot you can get away with live (especially on bass in a hard rock back - no one hears it anyway), but when recording, you have to do it much more precise.
There is also the element of discussion, not always exactly how to play that riff, but almost like a transfer of a musical "soul" between players. Some Kompozarians have taught me very, very much just by being very experienced musicians, without even discussing specifics like scales or riff. It is an attitude.
sanger: What can you suggest to make Kompoz even better than it is today?
B1: This is a hard one, I find Kompoz already very good and I am probably very biased since I love the place. There could probably be a million "little things" that can be tweaked, but all in all it is already fan-fornicating-youknowwhat. I would like to see more spotlight on Kompozers (old and new) to "present them to the gang", but I guess that is what this is :).
I am not too keen on the Staff Picks and Member Picks sections since people seem to put too great importance in appearing there, but that is just me.
I would like to see more international participation on Kompoz, but that is something that I don't think can be "arranged", it will come in due time.
sanger: Have you had a chance to actually meet any of your fellow Kompozers face-to-face?
B1: I have met several Kompozers face-to-face. (see Stockholm Showdown)
sanger: Really? That’s great! Can you tell us more about that?
B1: It is nothing short of magic when you meet people you have made music with online in real life. What always struck me at every encounter is that even though you may live literally in different worlds, work completely different jobs, dress different, have different color of skin, different religion and food preferences, it is still very very easy to communicate.
I have not had one meeting with a Kompozer where there was an awkward silence or where we ran out of topics to discuss. The most fantastic experience was - of course - the Stockholm Showdown where we not only met, but also jammed, drank, sightseeinged (new verb) and spent a very very magical weekend together.
I encourage all Kompozers to meet other Kompozers any chance they get.
sanger: What do your friends/bandmates/family have to say when you tell them about Kompoz?
B1: Many of them join :), my family thinks it is wonderful that I can still be very active in music without having to be away a lot from home. Musician friends mostly think it is absolutely incredible.
sanger: Other than your own tunes, do you have a favorite Kompoz Komposition?
B1: I have too many to mention, there is just too much good music :). One that is close to my heart is "Sick" by Elizabeth Gray (I am not sure I can take this one? I play on it:)), which not only is a fantastic song, it also developed from only a vocal line and there are some pretty mind-blowing musicians playing on it. However, there is just too much good music on Kompoz to try to single out anything.
sanger: What would you like to say about Kompoz that our members can benefit from?
B1: The exposure to the most talented bunch of musicians on Planet Earth, who are to 99% willing to help and coach you to do anything; better your playing, help finish your songs, explain odd time signatures or how to care for a violin bow. This is all priceless. Not to forget making friends in all corners of the world.
sanger: One final question Bjorn, name two artists you’d like to see for a Kollaboration Kontest?
B1: Now, that is a tall order. I would love to see a kontest based on a drummer (Bonham is out, but there is one or two more good, his son for example :)), perhaps making a song from a drum track. This would allow for a wider interpretation than guitar based kontests, I think.
I would also love to see a kontest based on a vocal track. As for artists, there are just too many to mention. If I can dream; David Bowie, Eddie Van Halen, Niels-Henning Orsted-Pedersen... :)
AND….. Bjorn is one of the founders of KTV!!!!Bjorn and Brannon create and produce this very cool show, featuring our gang of Kompozers! Those who make videos should really reach out to these guys – they are always on the lookout for new stuff!

Bjorn. Where to begin? As a musician he is a freak of nature. It is rare to find someone so creative that also possesses such technical ability. He spans genres with such ease and is so unbelievable prolific that he baffles all of us.
Then there's video editing. I think both of us would agree that when we began our little KTV show I had a firmer grip on editing. He has since mastered the art and I find it impossible to keep up. Don't tell him I said that.
Thats Bjorn the savant. Now about Bjorn the human.
I've made quite a few friends in my life, as have most of us. However, I can count on one hand the amount of lifelong friends I have found. Bjorn and I bonded on a personal level in no time at all. The guy is one of the most unselfish persons I ever met. He came along at time when I really needed a friend I will be forever grateful. He's one of those people that brings comfort in day-to-day adversity by virtue of the knowledge that people like him exist in the world. I count myself fortunate to call him a friend and a brother.
Here's to you Bjorn. Thanks for being you.

Alice for being an incredible talent with a HUGE heart and a wonderful attitude to all, no matter language, country, religion or anything.
Minime for always being positive and always having a good word to say to others and your great sense of humor
Brannon for being a brother to me and for the many constructive arguments in which I am always right but he never admits it. Also for sharing my love for a little place in the middle of nowhere where geet are plenty.
John for your never-ending support and always pleasant manner.
Sanger for not telling Alan? Jackson® about my use of D major.

My favorite tribute song: Bjorn Free
Bjorn free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows
Bjorn free to follow your heart
Live free and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star
Stay free, where no walls divide you
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide
Bjorn free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're Bjorn free
(Stay free, where no walls divide you)
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide
Bjorn free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're Bjorn free

it wasn't until he first pulled a gun on me that i had my suspicions...could this man really be asking for all my money? could this be the same guy who seemed so personable online.....yes as it turned out...he was...he made me empty my pockets and then go to a cash point and clear out the rest of my savings..he told me not to breathe a word of it to anyone and that i'd be lucky to make it out of the kompoz showdown alive....
he threw me into the boot of his MkII Jaguar and drove me to a remote dockside location whereupon he began to torture me...i didn't know any of the names he was asking for...after what seemed like 2 days of being tied up..he suggested we meet up with the others that had arrived....as he drove back through the city he was snorting a white powder off a mirror...swerving all over the road i didn't know if we'd make it back alive..he kept chewing the steering wheel and making barking noises...like some rabid rottweiler..
as we got out the car i saw an arm fall from the back door..he had two corpses stashed in the back seat and proceeded to gnaw on them...."a snack" he snarled. and we walked to meet the others...
As he staggered listlessly down the street, he came upon a couple of guys talking to each other..."give me your money!...now...!...he pinned them up against the wall and was having a hard time staying conscious by this point...sweat was pouring onto his shirt collar and his eyes were starting to roll...he shot his gun and wounded one but missed the other...then we continued down the street...I..I've said too much..i never want to remember that day for as long as i live..
i wish i could say more but its too unspeakable....
that said, i really don't wish to bring the tone down..what do they say?..focus on the positives...he makes a great cappuccino!

Congratulations Bjorn! But we want to know how your time management works.
This is how I think you do it.
A day in the life of Bjorn:
6:00AM Gets up. Gives wife a kiss on cheek
6:07AM Gets bass guitar out & works on a track
6:10AM Posts a track for fellow kompozer
6:15AM Eats breakfast (while working on another track).
6:20AM Posts another track for fellow kompozer.
6:30AM Comments on the 12 projects he's a part of (not missing one response).
6:45AM Showers (Practices a ukulele track in the shower so as not to get electricuted).
6:55AM Posts ukelele track to a cool new song he's come up with.
7:00AM Loads up music gear in car and heads off to work.
7:05AM Pulls out Iphone (still driving), comments on some more tracks.
7:15AM Reaches for Ipad(still driving). Hooks it up to Garage Band...with the apps he works on some more kompoz ideas for fellow kompozers.
7:45AM Arrives at work (Hides music gear in the accounting rooms back closet).
8:00-4:00 Works day job but takes many "breaks". (Works on half a dozen or so kompoz tracks, this is the key to Bjorns production)... Accounting office can't understand why he keeps going into their closet. He gives some lame excuse, "Theres some computer wiring I need to attend to"
4:15PM Heads home. Pulls out Iphone (still driving but with beer in other hand) comments on more kompoz tracks
4:30PM Stops at corner store for 12 pack
4:45PM Heads home
5:00PM Eats dinner (kisses wife on cheek)
5:15PM - 3:00AM Drinks beer and works on tracks(other key to Bjorns production)
3:05AM-6:00AM Sleeps

I've always been amazed at Björn's ability to master such a variety of different styles, while simultaneously keeping a sense of humour, speaking perfect English, and at the same time, juggling a bowling ball, a running chainsaw, and an egg.
