There is no really cheap way to do this. Whoever organizes a meeting would probably have to live in close proximity to the meeting location.

I had suggested to Bjorn a meeting somewhere at the beach near here. There are lots of rentals, however best pricing would be on the off-season. A 6-bedroom rental home with a garage could be shared by 6 people at a reasonable cost, and the garage would be a nice jam space.

Raf has family near here, so he would have NO excuse not to attend.

The other possibilities include small-scale kompoz meetings at various locations all over the world. Those close to each location could attend. It wouldn't hurt to have some geographical information on the member database to see centralized groups of members, and where best to have local meetings.

It would not be bad to try organizing something locally, but I am not in favor of being the one to organize something 400 miles away. I think that is the case with most people. My wife is all for a beachfest with kompozers at Topsail Island, and will be willing to help me organize it if there is enough interest. Even if only my two favorite kompozers show up (I'll let you fight over who that is) it would be a success.

Again, whoever does the organizing needs to live in or near the location of the meeting.

Topsail would be VERY convenient for me. An NC meetup would be my vote. Have you guys ever had East Carolina BBQ? It's something special.

We had a 1st Western U.S. Kompoz Lake Tahoe (California) meeting this month with Gumguru & Mudflappus and we are planning a second next August for anyone interested, I am also in the process of putting together an interactive website that you can register to get automatic updates, find transportation, lodging, and member contact information. I will be posting the website information so be on the look out for that.

NC is a mere 2500 miles from my house, I am perfectly willing to walk the distance to try some of Marty's BBQ. I understand you eat around the large caliber and swallow the buckshot.

Yeah I nearly went to the Tahoe meet. Getting married and figuring out how to get it paid for just got in the way. Keep me in the loop for next time.

I am always up for a meet anywhere if I can swing it. I would so be into meeting Marty and anyone else in NC. What a jam and fun we could have.

I know there's a fair number of us within about 4-5 hours of the Chicago area...maybe something around there would be good!

Hey I'll throw my 2 cents in for the Tahoe meetup. It was a lot of fun and very inspirational to finally meet some of the first folks I ever submitted tracks to. Theoretically, a global event would be great but it is guaranteed to leave a majority of even the most hard core Kompozers out due to the financial burden of travel. Not to mention the logistics of transporting equipment and such. The regional meetup idea has the most appeal to me and I think that you would have greater participation if the distances were negligible by personal vehicle. I drove five hours to get to Tahoe and I'll gladly do it again next year but I just don't know if I could justify a 3000 mile cross country trip financially. Maybe when my ship comes in but right now on musicians wages, it would be impossible for me.
