Bio

Mainly a hobbyist, but it's a serious hobby. First started playing in the 70's, but never really got down to business with it, as far as anything past basic power chords, until the late 90's. (I'm 62*- better late than never, eh?)

Not a singer (or at least my wife says so), so my stuff will mostly be geared toward the instrumental. I don't really consider myself a lead guitarist, but I do enjoy fooling around with working out twin (or more) harmony lines, with more emphasis on melody than speed.

#1 influence would be David Gilmour; also really like Mark Knopfler, Robin Trower, Buck Dharma- the classic-rock greats. Lately I've been getting more into the more basic blues stuff, Joe Bonamassa, Warren Haynes, etc.

*As of Feb 2019- SS checks, yay!

My Showcase Tracks
Select
Solace- The perfect example of why I joined Kompoz- submit a so-so guitar track, add the vocals/lyrics of the incomparable Kim Noble, and the superb talents of Paul Willis (bass), Kimberley Harris (piano), Chris Bouchard (drums), and Francois Graiouf on lead guitar, and the result is an actual (and, IMHO, pretty powerful) song.
Select
Presque Vu- Another one that began with a simple guitar track, and, with the added talents of Mykk Freeman (piano), Mike Patterson (vocals, lyrics), Willie Favero (bass), Jorge Paulo (lead guitar), and Gaetano Fontanazza (drums, mixing/mastering), became a song to be proud of.
Select
Mrs Grales (Chance Of A Ghost)- My guitars and basic concept, which Kim Noble ran with and wrote the vocal melody and some absolutely great lyrics ("People judge the skin of what they see, on repeat, the weakness of human"- that's brilliant, IMO); and Paul Willis with his usual fantastic bass line, one that is the real backbone of the song, the center that holds the whole thing together. Still open for possible lead guitar/keyboard/drums/percussion contributions. (The drums/percussion in place now are just clips pasted together)
Select
Gunslinger "The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed..." From the first book in the Stephen King series. This one had "theme for an imaginary Western" written all over it as it came out- that title was already taken, and I had recently read the books, so...there ya go, ka, I guess. Thanks to Matt Watts for the bass line and Dominik Pfleghaar for the keyboards. Also thanks to Lowell Parker for a drums part he contributed; I ended up not using it, but I appreciate the time and effort he put into it, and will credit him for it.
