I play keys, and am now learning bass so I can collaborate a bit more. On bass, I like to experiment rhythmically, and try to reveal the hidden structure and character of a song without riffing too much or "being noticed". On keys, I like to stick to a few choice notes, harmonies, and rhythms so as to not crowd out the rest of the band. I improv a lot, but can read music and behave myself if need be :-)
