My brother suffered from PTSD and I felt compelled to write a lyric dealing with it. Can be edited for preference The Battle Still Rages (Vs) He left himself, and came back someone else. The man he used to be died in the war. A smile that once graced his now weathered face, can rarely be seen there anymore. (Ch) The battle still rages deep in his soul, he's fighting demons that won't let him go. He hasn't known peace in what seems like ages; It can't be found while the battle still rages. (Vs) He found a friend in the gun that he held; he felt alone when they took it away. He knows how to kill, but not how to live and he is dying to die every day. (Ch) The battle still rages deep in his soul, he's fighting demons that won't let him go. He hasn't known peace in what seems like ages; It can't be found while the battle still rages. (Bridge) If we really knew what he's been through, do you think we could understand? What made him tick is what's made him sick and now he feels less of a man. (Ch) The battle still rages deep in his soul, he's fighting demons that won't let him go. He hasn't known peace in what seems like ages; It can't be found while the battle still rages. © L. I've been caring for over one year for a young man with paranoid schizophrenia, the lyrics are an expression of what he also talks about very often. --I'm praying for you & him.

Thanks Scotty, I lost my bro 3 years ago, and not a day goes by that I don't think of him.

The Crusaders suffered from PTSD too. There are stories of knights who would hide away from the world in churches, surviving only on the sacrament as they shriveled up over the years and died.

My son spent his formative years in Afghanistan. This lyric is exactly correct....

I feel for ya Erik, I really do. It's hard to witness, especially when it's a child.

I was in the Vietnam generation. I am still pissed off about it, even though I didn't have to go. [I had a high draft number] I had friends who served over there and got thoroughly fucked up and were never properly treated when they got home.
