Hello Brendan, Chad and all.
I restructured "Still" to add the break and lengthen the choruses. It's 6 and a half minutes now.
I created a "pre-break" to extend the mournful Solina synth a bit, with some cymbals and some hi-hat work added to lead in to a section of Chad's keyboards which I processed with a tape echo.
I added three more synths, a Prophet, Arp and CMI.
I added two more drum sections, each with a slightly different personality.
The Lead guitar I tweaked the effects a bit but did not change anything.
I added a different effect to the Octaver guitar and centered it a bit.
Did not add anything to the Chords guitar.
Spent all night on it, I was pretty tired and hungry after that.
On the way home from the studio, I stumbled across James Bryan at the pub, who was still in fine shape all things considered. We shot the breeze, had a few. Finally, it came to me, and I asked him if he'd be interested in adding a bass to this, seeing as there was nothing now for the new sections. He was delighted at the idea, but seeing as he had several appointments with ladies the next day, it would have to be right away. So we went back to the studio. How I managed to fit the key in the lock, I'll never know. Jim grabbed a random bass off the rack and got set up. All I remember was pushing the record button and I promptly passed out on on the mixing desk. When I woke up this morning, there was this perfect bass recorded and mixed in to the song and six empty bottles of port next to me.
Will upload dry and wet SEPs for everything today.
Sounds like you guys had an epic evening! That's though stuff of legends. I'm glad you both made it home safely.
This is a pretty awesome mix! Excellent bassline by Jim, as always. I need to take a few more listens before I can come up with a more thorough response, but for now, I will just say that this is pretty killer stuff! Thanks Bertrand!
One other quick item. If Jim wants to upload a sep, he can officially join the party.
I'll upload the bass SEP for him, dry and wet.
I think you can add him as a collaborator manually somewhere.
Ah, just figured it out. I thought it required an upload. Thanks
I am told you can add Jim through settings -> edit participant roles.
Yeah, I was able to add him. Thank you
Nice! It?s all fitting together and sounding cohesive. Thanks for including my keys and working so hard on it!
I forgot to turn off the effects on a couple of DRY drum sections and the cymbals and hihat just weren't loud enough when not compressed, so I deleted those from the Files web page and redid them. Have now finished uploading all the SEPs.
Thanks! I realize that was very time consuming for you. I appreciate it!
No problem, I just have a slow laptop.
