I was fighting latency and a low quality mic with this version, but it is just to give the collaboration an idea of my direction. I will re-record on my actual DAW with decent mic and preamps and put it up with the vocals alone.
Doesn't sound too bad, does it? Perhaps one tip: try to vary the length of the syllables/notes a little more, to create extra tension. (Just an idea;-).
It did feel a little rushed by the lack of space we had already discussed. Thus I wanted to give you some idea of where space could be used, while not really dictating specific bars at certain times. Letting the song flow from this, and I can tweak what is sung, when and how sustained the vocals are. I have more lyrics to avoid the repetition, but I actually ended up liking the way the "feel special" line gets driven home by revisiting it.
Btw Could you also upload a doc with your lyrics please?
This is really cool I think as is as far as the mix of the instrument sounds & vox. I'd really ruin it trying to add my style of guitar. A huge Gibson thru Marshall sound is too dense (and that's all I really know how to do lol)... The only thing that would remotely make sense is a straight power chord track doubling the synth bass and put low in the mix-but even that, I don't think the song needs it-it needs to be sparse. But I really, really like where you guys are headed with this though!!! Very Bowie/Billy Idol sounding. It seems like it needs to be about 2 x longer though? At this tempo and only 3 min, there's something awkward about the arrangement (which isn't necessarily a bad thing)... Just a thought :)
Fair enough. Stay tuned!-).
Thanks 308 for your listen / comment. I hope to have a vocal SEP uploaded by tomorrow, maybe it make a position evident for a grainy solo or somesuch that will bring in some space. I appreciate the reference to Bowie and Billy Idol, as they were both childhood influences to my vocal style.
Dude - Sweet - Dude - SWEET! Yep you rock ... I can totally in-vision something like Blue Highway coming out of this...!
