I took the liberty of adding back in my vocals to Jessica's as well as background saxes in that section. Let me know if it's too much.
I think it sounds cool.. very full.. I feel like I have boarded on a 1930's dinner train and whilst enjoying my hot and creamy homemade wild rice soup, the "Swingin' 6" singers, dressed in style came a to sing me a little ditty.... thus making my train ride much more enjoyable! Woot Woot!!!!
Marty you really jam on that thing man :)
It is excellent. I keep listening for the crackles and pops of an old record :)
Damn...this gets my vote.
Good job guys and gal!
I'd strip down the bass part 1st time thu, have it start walking when the horns come in. Playing long roots until then and in the verse sections later when the harmony is kinda nebulous.
All of the voices - yours, the sax section, Jessica - in my opinion definately NOT too much. I don't think it would be possible for too much of that tasty creme puff on top.
apart from not understanding nebulous, it sounds like an idea. I do play root notes during the sax solo after the Libidos, maybe use that pattern also in the beginning?
I think Lonnie means playing half time and then start walking? Nebulous..long roots???
Ah. That is more or less what I do in the section starting at 1:20. "slow" roots and fifths more or less.
I have concluded that Lonnie does not like notes, he always wants to take away notes from my bass lines :)
Nebulous: of or pertaining to a nebula, e.g. the Crab Nebula. This is not related to crab dip which would be good with fresh artichoke leaves if you could get them.
Mission "Confuse A Swede" has been successfully carried out. For the record: It was very hard to do a good bass here, Lonnie you bastard :)
Second meaning of nebulous:
And by "harmony" I mean harmonic progression, the figured bass if you will.
See why I'm not often serious in here? Gets me in trouble every time.
You are not in trouble :), I am. I always trust your advice
Bjorn, that's not a bad idea... an old record with crackles and pops. I'll be working on a lo-fi mix.
Low fidelity is what my wife says I can't be doing, but for this purpose I think it would be cool. Remember our old Smash Hit "Ain't Got No Middle Name".
Would you like some boom chicka chicka boom chicka chicka drums on this Sven-Martin?
After all this time, I just re-listened to this again! Marty, if I have not said it, or said it enough, you are one HELL of a musician! Thank You so much for letting me sing on your contest song. I think it's brilliant! Just as you are my friend! Take Care!!
Geeeez.. How rude am I??? Bjorn.. ya know I love ya right??? I definitely did not forget to say GREAT JOB to you on purpose.. fast typing I guess.. Overall, I just think this is GREAT!
