I wanted to remix this now that I've shed a few plugins that I decided I didn't like sonically and changed my mastering process.
This sounds really different in good ways to previous.. The big one for me is you tamed the fizz [7k-ish?] on the R. guitars. Hearing this next to say ver. 3 is a vast improve on sitting the guitars in with the cymbals. You nailed it. Of course I like you turning the drums up. The vocals sound more present. Did you try the vox thickening trick I told you about? This is a great mix.. Lot of improves on clarity.
I did something similar to the technique Warren shows in that video as a parallel processing bus, but I'm gonna play around more with his exact technique going forward. I changed up all the guitar stuff really, ditched this spreader plugin I've been using - I dunno if it's me or the plug but I started to hate what it was doing, lol. I've also changed the guitar sim I'm using to the STL Andy James one - it's perfect for my guitars and how I play and I have really fallen for that plug. It's not perfect but it's tone is. I also have been getting rid of a lot of stuff I used on submix busses in mixing and in general paring away things which I think has also helped a lot. And those drums are so good - they did need to be more present. :D
I think it sounds fantastic... nice balance, and I always liked this song. It's a great blend of instrumental with vocal. Sounds great to me tonight, and your solo is outstanding here
