I doubled checked it this time. Its the right file. lol Hopefully this is more of what you were looking for. also is there anyway to remove the first one I uploaded? Any changes you want please let me know!
Something goin on at about 2:25 Lead Gtr is everywhere. My bad for lack of better sync.
Seps never sound the same after uploaded so sometimes re-amp or EQ is necessary.
I consider production as part of mastering. Make it your own. Using all or parts of seps for clarity.
Panning has more to be desired. Bass is a bit muddy, again clarity. Yes, I'm into clarity..Lol.
Reverb used lightly can be useful..overused it can kill.
All in all you do good work. This is a tough one to produce. Please don't take personally.
I missed this (the notice) and forgot about it.
listening now....vocals sound sorta lifeless to me, drums are good, bass lost its presents, organ is ok,
my guitar (lead) is a little buried.
cant really tell if the alignment is right or not because the overall on the instruments (not drums)
is not as clear as I like.
please no offence meant, I am just picky.
here is an example of a favorite kompoz mix that is clear, sweet and warm........
your efforts are appreciated man!
and yes, my guitar is not synced right, I hear something starting to get weird at 1:51
Yeah that's the solo. That thing came in hot. The only alignment on it is the beginning drums from what I could gather. If you know what time that should go in I'll align it. It wasn't in the featured demo.
Bills Gtr's are synced with drums at about:012
the lead that's on the feature mix comes in around the 2:02 mark,
I will have to open my daw to get the exact, not possible till tomorrow.
Ok I'll go thru them again. This has a lot of layers and only so much headroom. But the criticism is necessary or I'll never know what you want for it. You can give this to 20 different engineers and get 20 different interpretations. No need for apologies guys. I'm just happy to start doing this again. It's been almost 13 years since I've turned knobs.
I see the issue with the files and understand why it would be challenging for someone new to the site,
hell I have been here for a few years and it took me about 15 minutes to get them aligned and the beginnings trimmed
so that it works.
I take pride in helping new members and will do my best to resolve this with you.
1st... I loaded all files in my DAW (keeping each performers file's together)
I will start with Walts...I loaded them to 0, made my start point at 12.656 seconds or 7.04.01.00 bar mark, trimmed everything before and muted the parts at the start.
(leave all files there (no nudging))
the start of the keys file lines up with 12,656 seconds or 7.04.01.00 bar mark, trim and mute all before 14.531 seconds or the 8;04.01.00
(leave them there)
load files to song start 0, trim at 18.750 seconds or 11,01,00 bar mark, mute all before. (leave them there)
the start of them belongs at 11.250 seconds or the 7.01.00 bar mark, trim at the 15.000 seconds or
9.01.00 bar mark, mute all before. (leave them there)
now you can have fun, interpret the mix as you see fit, panning, FX, what ever you like man.
people do remixes all the time here, once you have a mix that the project owner like's, then master it.
this song has files that have different start points, this problem does occur here on occasion, but I did not see
any that needed close up nudging.....whew! ......like I said before, on occasion files need nudging due to every one using different DAW's.
I hope I was able to help you out.
it took me longer to type this then to figure it out LOL
but I really do enjoy helping folks out and passing along the knowledge that I learned
when I started here, I hope you will do the same.
you do good work! I like that post
Now that is detail! This makes a good topic. Track alignment is the #1 most important thing from my perspective, and it's a challenging aspect of online collaboration... but it definitely can be done! No matter how anyone interprets a mix, if the tracks are misaligned, even by the tiniest fraction, the song is rendered unlistenable. Unfortunately, when some DAWs or track types are rendered, they add a tiny fraction of header... naturally making them out of sync if you just drop them in. Some sort of sync tone is essential, and then really zooming way in to make sure that they are exactly aligned. Just like Bill said, once the tracks are properly aligned, it opens everything up for you to express your interpretation of the mix.
ya know whats funny...one of the tunes I did has the buvs way out of alignment, but it sounded so cool I left them,
an ultra rare occurrence indeed!
the fun really begins when I edit individual notes (not quantized all to hell) to make things fit perfect and still keep
a human played feel to it.
I love the human touch.
...........here is the tune I left the buvs out of alignment on....I know you head it before, its just a reference.
hmmm, I just listened. I'm not sure how they were intended but they certainly don't sound out of alignment. You are right that it sounds so cool. That whole song has a great vibe
Awesome, thank you for helping with the times on some of those files! I actually have a full weekend with nothing to do. (Other then watching the Bears of course). What I'll do is align everything Upload it and if everything is where it's supposed to then I'll re mix a couple different versions and go from there.
great! love to hear what you come up with!
my file (lead) sux!
here is what I did to it, read first comment under the mix I did here.......
hope that helps you
It was a blast watching them beat green bay 2 weeks ago!
