This incorporates Sam's editing and other ideas. Used a mastering curve derived from some music that sounds similar. After putting it through the blender and focusing on tiny details for hours and hours, I can't really tell if it sounds good.
Diggin' this....man, how do you do that? you managed to bring the drums closer without degrading the vocal or bass...if anything, the vocals are even more clear than the 1st mix. I'm jealous....
I like the ending measures too...diggin' this...)
That's encouraging! :) The drums are +1db, snare +3, vocals, guitars and bass are roughly -1db. Reverb is -4 and reverb decay is half of what it was - I kinda liked it swimmy and reverberant, so going bone dry doesn't work for me on this. The heavy mastering does some damage, but I'll leave it to you to hear it ;)
Frank, Master of Sounds! I don't understand the db thing (one day you'll have to explain it plz) but the result is veeeery good.
I'm stuck in analogic when the rule was kinda "no arrows over 0db" :)
Sometimes I have the feeling of distortion on something and maybe a feeling of too much middle-lows but the sound is great, enjoyable, energetic and actually my listening system (including ears) is not reliable.
Nicely tied together Frank, my nose is not as close as one of the musicians but it appears faultless to me as a mix, a most enjoyable song oh and well done Mr. Miller love the roll, it's very you.
Ready for publishing, everybody?
Let the money roll in...;)
Yep..sounds like a wrap to me...except...there's always one eh Frank?
Lead vox changes volume a little to abruptly at 1:44..45 - 1:49.
Other than that...perfect!
Hah ha - you spotted an artifact of heavy handed mastering, where the extremely dynamic (and now louder) snare can cause sudden gain reduction on the same frequency bands as the vocal or guitars. The artifacts are worse than I would normally allow, but the overall level is still below Loudness War levels. The only cure is less snare dynamics and less overall loudness. I can rationalize the 1:44 artifact as "he backed off the mic while shouting" ;)
Yep...I almost understand. :)
As I said...a small thing, and I can live with it.
Frank, good answer. I'll keep it in mind for our next interview in the rolling stone magazine ))
Ian, are you hangin around too much with me? LOL
Don't forget to mention my name in the article Sam.
Hell...I'm surrounded by boxes. :)
Ha Ha Ian, It would be great if I could understand the meaning of each thing you say :)
But you are an artist, and this song tells us that strict meanings are nothing compared to the whole world of communication. BTW my poor English makes you so fuck*n artist sometimes...:)
Well, is everybody proud of his own work here? Is there any work planned or in progress or in request?
Like in any glam project we've got the handsome (Mark), the wise (Frank), and... well Ian there are the cocky-ballsbuster and the gay roles still available.
Ha ha ...yer killin' me Sam, but I'll accept the monikor you have given (it could be much worse, I suppose)))))))))))))))
hmmmm....such a great choice Sam, but I think I'll take the "cocky-ballsbuster". :)
btw...isn't it time Mr. Dali had that drink?? He must be thirsty by now.
Got it, Ian ;)
...still no feedback. Publish or is something happening before the 1st official release of this bomb?
Will see you on the bus Mark :)
bag's packed, dog's fed, wife kissed... ;)
make sure you them in the right order...what with the excitement and all.

Sam.....When playing drums, the words often elude me as I think of them in terms of melody and rhythm. Having just "read" your lyrics for this, I'm impressed....You have a command of the english language...(and you can no longer try to impress on us otherwise!!)
The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Incubus are fighting over who's new HIT SONG this is.
This is a KOMPOZ hit song boyos!!!!!!!
Steven, The Red Hot Chili Who? This is a new era guys LOL
Thanks Mark. Actually my mother tongue has got words with many syllables and accents. So you've got to choose between music and what you want to say. Too much easy to betray both.
Still I don't know how my words sound to an anglophone and I'm sure there are cooler or more correct ways to say the same things, but your language sounds like heaven to me. Most words have got one or two syllables, all with same rhythmic accents, easy rhymes (but who does care??? haha). So, regardless bullshits one can tell, easy rock management :) Maybe one year in London or New York suburbs could help me eh?
Another great song!
I love the RHCP style groove.
This is a great mix/master and tune by all.
Amen, bro :)
