Creative Brief

A fictional story about two goth teenagers who skip school to hang out by a derelict church. Years later, one of them is reflecting on the death of her friend.

Vocals provided by my lovely wife.

Isabella Belladonna

(Verse 1)
School days spent on riverbanks
We'd walk to that old church,
Its walls were falling down
Grounds reclaimed by oak and larch.
Our faces painted
What a sight,
To set 'fore that old God;
We talked like we didn't care
But we cared a lot.

(Pre Chorus)
Hanging at the graveyard
Picking petals,
Whilst listening to corroding

Heavy metal. (Brief guitar feedback sound?)
We didn't need no school lessons,
To understand the true essence,
Of love and life
And wrong and right.

(Chorus)
Oh Isabella Belladonna
Tell me what have you done?
I thought I was the weak one
You were always so strong.

(Verse 2)
Lost years filled with idle thoughts
Eyes closed to the cruel world,
Though my life was falling down
I never forgot you, girl.
Our faces painted
What a sight,
To set 'fore that old God;
We talked like we didn't care
But we cared a lot.

(Pre Chorus)
Hanging at the graveyard
Picking petals,
Whilst listening to corroding

Heavy metal. (Brief guitar feedback sound?)
We didn't need no school lessons,
To understand the true essence,
Of love and life
And wrong and right.

(Chorus)
Oh Isabella Belladonna
Tell me what have you done?
I thought I was the weak one
You were always so strong.

(Bridge)
Your beauty should have soared so high
But you pulled the wings from your butterfly;
Now it's a different church
And I stand alone,
Just a misfit missing
The girl I used to know.

(Chorus – alternative)
Oh Isabella Belladonna
Staring at the sun,
My hand found yours on the grass
As the song birds sang their song,

As those song birds sang their song.

(Instrumental outro, accompanied by fading birdsong?)
