"THE GRASS IN APRIL"... I composed the music for the wonderful lyrics of my friend Francesco (Parapagal), trying also humbly to interpret it.

camminavi a piedi nudi sull’erba d’aprile
andando incontro a quell’uomo dall’aria gentile
piovuto da un temporale in un giorno qualunque
per prendersi quel che si prende venendo al dunque
è stata l’inquieta parvenza di un raro momento
può darsi che sia la lusinga di un sentimento
o forse per quell’espressione come di un bambino
così commovente che può disarmare il destino
ed è così che in un giorno qualunque sei stata diversa
e dopo tante occasioni perdute questa qui non è persa
è la prova ineffabile questo bruciarsi improvviso
del tumulto che ci passa accanto a cui non si fa caso
e poi quando com’era venuto così se n’è andato
ti ha lasciato una gran leggerezza non certo il peccato
perché è un alito lieve di vento l’amore rubato
i petali di un rododendro cosparsi nel prato
tuo marito è tornato per cena di ottimo umore
temevi che chiedesse conto di un qualche rossore
e invece ti ha detto sei bella con quell’aria svagata
e la grazia t’illumina il viso di un’ansia fugata

to meet a sweet-looking man
dropped off by the rain on an ordinary day
willing to take over whatever he could at the right time
it was a restless semblance of a rare moment
maybe it was the lure of a feeling
or perhaps it was because of his childlike expression, so moving it could disarm fate
so on this ordinary day you were different
and after so many missed opportunities this one would not be lost
the ineffable proof of this sudden burning
of the flowing tumult that no one sees
and when he went, as suddenly as he'd come
he left you a great lightness and certainly no sin because a stolen love is just a
slight breath of wind like rhododendron petals sprinkled on the lawn
your husband came back for dinner in a good mood
you feared that he'd ask the reason for your blush
instead he told you you were beautiful in that dreamy look and grace that lights up
your face when your cares are removed
