Added keys by Dominkus, arranged to give this piece a more cinematic feel (this has always reminded me, from the day I came up with it, of a theme for a western movie); also gave Matt's bass line a little bit of a boost, get it more upfront in the mix (may still be a little further back than what's usual, but it's better than it was). Thanks to all, long days and pleasant nights. Faron

Very well done indeed. I can see Roland and his Ka-Tet riding through the deserted wastelands of Mid-World. Bass could stand to be just a tad louder imho, though.

Thanks. Yeah, I thought the bass might still be a tad too far back. I'll work on that a bit more, since it really is an integral part of the song's whole feel, a nice, broody backbone. I'll probably start with eq, try to give it some more punch, then go from there. In the meantime- I noticed on your mix, you used Lowell's drums (I think you did, anyway). The only reason I've never submitted a mix with them is because I prefer the drums to have a more deliberate, plodding pace to fit the mood of the song, so I've stuck with the clips I originally used. I've been experimenting with using Lowell's file in certain parts though- like right after that main theme in Am, where the key shifts to F-C-G for a sort of chorus- to pick up the pace a bit. Still don't have it where I want it, but trying to get it there is half the fun for me, so...(and Lowell is still getting a credit for his work, so there's that) Thanks again, Faron

Sounding great to me, Faron. I think the level of the bass is well balanced with the rest; but yes perhaps a little more emphasis on some of the mid/high frequencies to bring it forward a little?

Yup, I'll try that. I'm pretty much feeling my way through the mixing part of the process, very rarely do I actually know what I'm doing. But practice makes better, if not perfect. Thanks. And please feel free to jump in with bass parts (or whatever) for any other tunes of mine you think might be worth your time. Faron
