The Lass of the Meadow Contemporary Singer/Songwriter

Creative Brief

I wanted to try something here.  I'm not sure if this is a good idea, or if it has been tried before, or how successful it will be, but here goes:

I notice there are a lot of lyricists out there who don't seem to be able to find others to turn their thoughts into music.

To be honest I have tried, with mixed results.  It is not always easy to turn others written word into song. It often feels like putting a square peg in a round hole.  This may just be the same but in reverse, but who knows....

So what I have here is a song with no lyrics.

Its got the chord progression, song structure and a suggested melody for writers to fill in the blanks.

The key can be adjusted if needed.

The melody can be adjusted too (As long as you have a way of recording what it should be. You know "hum a few bars"  :) )

I'll even offer to sing it for you if need be, though I am only a mediocre singer.

It contains a pretty standard folk style chord structure and song structure.

Intro, Verse 1, Verse 2, Chorus, Break, Verse 3, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus, Outro

Key of B, 125 MPM, 3/4 Time. (I believe this is true...I'm not the best at music theory)

This is just something to get started, then collaborate as needed for all the other instruments.

My only ask, is that if you use both my melody and chord progressions, as written, you give me credit for those. If you develop your own melody then I have no claim to any of it, as I do not believe in owning chord progressions.   The lyrics, of coarse will be all yours and any other collaborators get credit for their contributions.  You know the standard stuff.

I hope this helps someone out there to get their thoughts to music!

Feel free to contact me with any thoughts or questions.

Reminder:  I'm not looking to finish this project, but you are welcome to do spinoffs if you are interested.

Good luck,

Update Feb 10, 2019 - I have added a electronic drum track for your use and I have asked other real musicians to add some tracks for others to use.  Any track I leave in the file folders are yours to use in your spinoffs, just please ensure you give credit to those who created them.

Thanks and have fun,
