Hey Gerry - thought I'd give a mix a try, see what you think. I will listen more to it tomorrow when my ears are fresh and see if it hold up to me. If you don't like, no worries - fun song to listen to a bunch.

Hi Rott (odd name ; ), Very cool! I'm glad you like the tune! I like the mix, but I need to update the seps. There are a couple of changes and updates that haven't made it to kompoz yet. I can't do it tonite but I'll reload them tomorrow and you can give it another shot if you like. Again, I'm glad you dig the tune! (Big Smile!) Best! G.........

Hello: the vocals sound excellent. I am not sure the horn timing is spot on. It sounds a tad off. I like the drum sounds. The overhead cymbals might have too much compression, so they sound, to me, too 'shimmery.' (a technical percussion term!) Overall, I like the sound, the balance and the presence.

Hey Allen - thanks for the feedback. Was a first pass thru on it, so let me check the horn alignment. I also noticed the high end shimmering on the cymbal bell and tried to adjust it - but had trouble since it was a drum mix sep. Do you know if the drums have separate seps? I was just trying to get a little more brightness on the drums so they stood out in the mix a little more. I can play with it more - i believe, there are still some updated tracks coming. - rich

Hello Rott: Yes, there are individual stereo 24K 48bit wav SEPS. All originals are dry. Any FX are separate SEPS. If they were shimmering in the drum mix, it may have been my compression on that mix. I can provide whatever you need. Let me know...

Its probably that I tried to add a little room effect to the mix - and pushed it to the shimmer. If you want to add the seps i would take them - i know its pain to add all that stuff - otherwise would it be possible for a new drum mix that's a little more similar to the sound i got but without the shimmer?

unless you like them as is in your mix and want to keep it that way.

I like your EARS, so I will upload the SEPS, and you can use what you will. I am sure it will be better than what I can do...

Hey Gerry - See you uploaded a few more tracks - If there are any tracks you do not want me to include in the mix, could you archive those, so I don't accidentally include them, sometimes hard to keep track when multiple takes are on the files page. - rich

I do have one other idea for the song if you guys wanted to try it. Was wondering if Bert wanted to try a solo horn track and just solo over the entire song - I might be able to pick out some parts of that here and there and add it in for variation. I've done that in several of my songs with guitar lead - usually get my guitarist to jam solos, several tracks worth over the entire song, then I can pick out some tasty licks to throw in here and there. Just an idea - if you guys don't wanna - that's cool. :)

Hi Rott, (Ok, now I understand where the name comes from. LOL) HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM.... Though not insurmountable, it is a pain in the ass and my fault for not using sync tones. I am in the process of loading all 15 traks from the first version you heard, all with sync tones. They should all line up quite well. We did have some timing variations in a couple of the trax. But this should have solved them. I will archive all the other traks once these are loaded. Of course the loading is going dreadfullllly slo! Anyway, where the problem comes in is in Al's drums. Which for some reason was out of sync with the very first traks I put up when he did his original mix. Which meant the base traks on my daw were off. Anyway, he posted a drums only trak which I then adjusted to my traks and other traks I have since developed. So the adjusted drums track I'm posting should be in time. But I'm almost certain the seps he posted tonite will not be. The timing needs to be corrected somewhere. At this point I'm not sure where is best to fix it if you want to work with the individual drums seps. Al, thoughts? At this point, let me finish loading up the trax and we can take it from there. There are new trax in the group as well. For instance, all the main vox trax have been changed from what you had. I'm not sure if I'll be able to load them all tonite. Probably not. But if I can't I'll finish tomorrow.

Btw,... I like the idea of the solo horn over the whole thing in the hopes of picking out a bit here and there. It's a good idea and could work! ; ) Anyway, that's where I am. Thanx in advance for your patience! : ) G.......

Ps. All the trax I'm loading tonite will have the letter A in front of the name. There are 15 in all. I'll then archive all the others (except the drum trax, till we can get that sorted). G............

A 5'23" trumpet solo is rather long. We gotta breathe sometimes you know :) But I will see if I can solo over one full chord schedule. I'll try to use short licks, so that you can cut and paste easily, also to other parts of the song. And yes, the horn part is out of sync in this mix :-) I hope you can ajust that.

Cool, thanks, and yes I will get you in sync.

My parents, my teachers, several girlfriends tried to get me in sync. None ever succeeded :)

Hmmm... One long, continuous solo. I like that idea. Isn't there a brass technique where you breath in thru your nose, while continuing the note with Gillespie-like cheeks? ;-)

Hi, So.....at this point, I've loaded all the seps that comprised the featured track you heard. These should all be in sync with each other (this does not include the individual drum seps). I archived all the other trax. There are 3 main vox tracks V1, V2, & V3. 2 & 3 are the main voice tracks. 1 is a backing track to support the main tracks and should be played much lower. In other words it shouldn't sound like a dual voice. G3 & G4 are two patch tracks to add to extra beats I wanted in the lead rhythm guitar section (you'll see). The rest is all self explanatory. Happy mixing! Let me know of any questions, etc. Thanx Rich! G......... ; )
