Nice singing and lyrics - I think I could put a bass line and drum line suggestion to this Dave - will have to wait utilll the weekend though for the bass ... I'll try a few things and please feed back so I can change it to more of what you were looking for. I would imagine that when people listen to this they may also submit ideas .....Cheers - Red

Thanks Red, there's no great rush, most of my lyrics will sit there for years and probably never be used what I just have a reasonable feeling about this particular song. Cheers Dave

Hi Dave ... did you record this to a certain BPM or is it freestyle/variable tempo? It'll be easier for me to suggest some different drum options to go with it if I know the BPM ... I estimate the tempo at around 132/3 BPM. Shall I just put together some drum suggestions at that tempo and see if any of them are getting close to what you were after?

Hi Red, According to my Spire studio built-in metronome it's 72 beats per minute

I can sing it again with a metronome recorded alongside the vocal. That's the only drawback with the Spire studio, it has a built-in metronome but you can't record it. So I can set a metronome up on my PC and just record that in the background.

When I did a run through with this song I used the 72 bpm and it was pretty much in time. A bit of drift as it progressed.

Can you listen to the metronome in your earphones, but sing along and record your voice without the metronome being picked up ... that would be best if poss

Yes, thats what I did here but of course singers often sing off the beat. I will try it again! Cheers Dave

tell yuo what ..... ill send you a scratch drum track [no where near final], sing to that as a starting point and we can use it as the base to work on ...

your vocal is great, a good country song. I figured i'd throw out a demo scratch guitar, the key is A to match your vox, the bpm is off but around 72 so i did a little nudging around to match vox with guitar. Anyway I wanted to throw this out and see what you think as a basic chord progression. If you like i can expand.

Thank you, I'd like to think this could be made into a nice modern country ballad as you say. I'm about to upload another longer version with a metronome recorded alongside the vocal so strumming along to the song should be easier. I did listen to your chord progression and something seemed out of tune - probably me as i didn't start with an "A" tone to work from so I might not be in A to start with! I hate not being able to play but I'm too long in the tooth to start learning really and I've only ever known singing so tings have usually been dictated by the other musicians in bands etc.
