I feel super ignored on this site!! :/ for more than two months I have proudly featured "Percussion-Cajon" as a talent but no one, not a single one, of you has ever invited me to join a collaboration to show of my bad to mediocre playing skillz! Thanks a lot!

...and this has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that my invites have been turned off this whole time (and still are) ... Just saying..

this site is just so lousy with hot-shot young cajon players; it can be tough to stand out. hang in there!

I recommend adding "Percussion-Triangle" to increase potential collaborator interest. No one wants to work with a one dimensional cajon-slapper!

This is not cool that people do not invite you when you have invites turned off ! I think it is one of this bugs ! Maybe give people the info that they can invite you also with sending a Carrier pigeon with the invite ! It is a workaround ! All the best !

Thank you for your support in these hard times. I accept carrier pigeon mail to my Austrian pigeonhole address: Two flaps east and 20 cock-strides north past Pyramidenkogel (that's towards Klagenfurt for the locals).

I used to have a Meinl cajon. Pretty good, overall, but not great. I loved playing it and did so for years. It was like slapping a wall and not good for the hands. After decades of playing hand percussion, the damage to my hands left a bit of nerve damage in some fingers. \m/\m/ Anyway, a friend of mine made a cajon for me. The wood was way too thick, and he had used a door spring instead of wire on the inside for the snare. I had to beat it like it owed me money to get any sound out of it. An engineer friend of ours took out the door spring and put some weed wacker wire in it for the gig. :D

Mine is of the brand Schlagwerk ... I'm not really sure how judge the sound of one cajon against another but I think I can make this one work in some songs :) Now I'm thinking about getting a djembe or something similar to expand my exploration into the rhythmic world... let's see... So I'm guessing that you wouldn't recommend building my own percussion? :P

You, sir, have an engineering and musical mind, so you'll do just fine building your own instruments. If you do take up hand drumming, please do yourself a favor and seek out proper technique so you don't fuck up your hands. There are plenty of people who talk like they know what they are doing (common among humans), but they have no idea whatsoever. I started learning hand drums (folk percussion) in 1995 and learned the hard way at first. Eventually I had the opportunity to travel and study with some incredible world-class players who provided solid guidance. The rest was trial and error, research and tons of work. I encourage you to go for it. <3

Hey Astro...want to bring your Cajon and other hand instruments over to "Cajon Man" ? Jannik has made a good start, and we could use some soldiers!!! BTW, I bought the Arturia keyboards when they were on sale upon your recommendation....great call:) https://www.kompoz.com/music/collaboration/1071852/file/1071929/1#comment1274007

Thanks man <3 I didn't hear much about using proper technique to avoid injuries but only to get the right sound - at least for the videos I've watched so far.. I might have to dig a bit deeper. In these days it's difficult to get one-on-one lessons but I guess YouTube will be my friend ;) LOL I just found this tutorial on google on how to make your own djembe https://www.instructables.com/Build-your-own-Djembe-and-End-Table/ It starts with.... finding a tree to carve up :P

Wait until you get to the part where you sacrifice a goat (or troublesome neighbor). :D
