Very early stages of creation, and I guess I need a drummer to start with! I know, more or less, the way I want things to sound, and how instruments should go, but so far I only have a very basic vocal track with the timing as best as possible. The intro has not been cemented, so I'm open to possibilities. I'll re-record when I have more to work with

Thank you! I know it's kind of rough at the moment, but I have some big ideas

I think this has lot of potential but i m afraid it will be difficult for a drummer to chip in so early. You seem to have a clear idea on the rhythm so perhaps you could try to record a basic programmed drums as a foundation and drop it later on as the song progresses. Just an idea though. Best of luck.

that's definitely something I can do for the time being. As many times as I've tried to compose or record music in the past, the drums always trip me up. I'll take your advice and see if I can update the file this weekend (hopefully with some better vocals too) and put a super basic drum track with it. The hunt begins for a drum loop that sounds similar to what I'm looking for!

That could be a good start or perhaps refer to existing songs or beats for inspiration . You have a nice voice and i hope this will develop .

Thank you! I can pretty clearly hear what I want from drums in the beginning of the song, but transitions between verses into chorus, and later in the song... all a bit fuzzy. Then trying to find a similar track has been difficult. Regardless, I'll have *something* up just to get it rolling.

Here is what i think. A good drummer will take care of the transitions for you. This is where a drummer makes the difference with programmed drums in my opinion. I would focus on the main groove at first. Then I am sure a bassist and guitarist will chip in and your project will take off.

Agree with Froz here. I wouldn't bother trying to find different drum patterns for each section etc. Just try and find one decent pattern that's at the tempo you want the song to be and have that through the whole track. It'll be easy for a drummer to come up with different patterns etc once you have the basic guide track down.
