It would be much appreciated if somebody could help me pick out the chords & lyrics to this song. I can't find out who wrote & originally performed this. If I can figure it out, I would love to add this as a project here. It is a local American Indian legend from where I was born. I was born in Alton,IL.

I searched for years for a recording of this song. This is ther first recording I could find. I can't remember anything else about this song :/

i just googled it and found a cool little history. basically, this was a huge bear-sized, man-eating bird that was terrorizing the local natives in alton, way before columbus. piasa hunted deer and native alike. but the tribe got fed up and the chief of the tribe, i think, offered himself up as bait. but they laid a trap, all throughout the forest there were archers with poisoned tipped arrows lying in wait. he swooped in for the chief and got the arrows. rip piasa.

COMING THIS SUMMER: It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's definitely a bird. He's angry. He's hungry. He's a hangry bird. But this time, the Meal... Bites... Back.

Yes! Sort of like "Apocalypto" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ngWBddVNVZs) meets "Q: The Winged Serpent" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCE3xpqBNdM)

For the verse I'm going with Dm - C - Bb - A? I will try to figure out some more tomorrow.

Yeah, despite the irreverence of the whole movie trailer thing, I think it's cool, too. I've managed to convert the YT audio to an mp3 (solely for the purposes of research and analysis, of course), and will see what I can do about attenuating that hiss tomorrow.

Sorry man, I had converted it to mp3. I could have posted it, my bad.

No worries! I uploaded a wav file that hopefully enhances the vocals and bass a little bit.

Thank you folks! It's much appreciated! If I can get a recording of me playing rhythm guitar & singing, would anybody be interested in contributing to this?

Hmm. I'm not very well versed in all of the legal intricacies that might be involved, but it seems like there should be a "just for fun, never to be released" license of some sort. On the other hand, releasing an illicit cover might just bring the elusive original artist out of the woodwork, albeit in the worst way possible.

I believe if the song was published in 1925 or earlier, it is public domain. Seems like this song might qualify.

If you're not sure of the copy-write status just get a mechanical license. 'Sure a lot easier than dealing with a lawsuit.

I had the sound file emailed to me by a radio station. It had no mention of the writer or original performer.

I just want to figure out the chords & lyrics so I can cover it. When I get it recorded, I will create a project here & see what happens. I am terrible at picking out lyrics.

Invite incoming, Josh. I've cleaned it up some; I think there are only a few words that I still can't quite make out.
