I remember the release of that album in 1983. I was to the concert in 1984 here in Denmark. I think Mercyful Fate was there to... but I'm not sure. Pretty long time ago ;)
Very cool! I didn't see them until early 90's on the Black tour. My 1st album was AJFA. Mostly cuz I was pretty young during their early albums but, it was not long until I started to get their older albums. It would have been awesome to have seen them in the early stages. So jealous!!!! I did see them front row though and they played everything. It was so cool!!!! We were right in front of Newstead. Although, I'm certain Burton could have trumped that LOL!!!
THe only 'tallica album that still sounds fresh to me. The later thrash albums sound overproduced, and everything after AJFA - don't even get me started!
You are right but I must say master of puppets is my favorit.
If I had to pick favorites.... Garage dayz or Ride the Lightning got the most plays on my deck :)
You're right, they lost a lot of hardcore fans with the black album for sure and understandably. It was very different from any of their early albums even AJFA. I do like the black album but, it does feel almost like a different band. It was a big leap but, a very successful one to say the least. Not something any early tallica fans would like but, it created so many more tallica fans then it lost, 10 fold. I do like that album as well as all before it. However,..... I don't like any that followed the black album :) I bought Saint anger and I was angry that I spent my money on it:( Load, Reload ect...
